Strategic Sourcing Manager, Packaging

The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for working with the respective departments; Manufacturing, R&D, Lab to develop and lead the sourcing process for packaging, bottles, caps, and labels to create long term productivity.

They will be responsible for the procurement process including purchasing strategies, negotiation, and management of suppliers for $25-35MM.

Candidate must be able to handle multiple projects at a time, working closely with each of the customers to mutually define needs/requirements in order to drive the procurement process across the organization while maintaining compliance with corporate policies. 

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Develop solid understanding of industry related to assigned categories, including costs, demand-supply drivers, and trends

• Establish a good and collaborative relationship with existing, new suppliers

• Forecast events through data analysis, foresee market changes and make recommendations to preempt changing conditions

• Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms

• Establish a network with internal customers, Procurement colleagues, Plant Engineers, Legal and Finance to develop and implement procurement strategies

• Review existing contracts to improve terms and prepare for renegotiations at end of term

• Negotiate advantageous contracts to secure supply and savings.

• Deliver productivity cost savings year over year on key categories.

• Communicate and align category sourcing strategies with key business stakeholders

• Develop and execute strategic projects to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage

Requirements

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management etc.

MBA a plus.

· 7+ years’ experience in a sourcing or commercial role in related fields 

· Knowledge around packaging, labels, bottles, caps, and project management

· Knowledge of the resin and pulp markets

· Excellent contractual, analytical and negotiation skills.

Knowledge of insurance, indemnification, patents, warranties, title etc.

· Strong commercial acumen to negotiate and manage contracts and spot purchases with suppliers.

· Years of strong savings

· Capable of working with internal customers to define needs and potential suppliers that meet requirements. 

· Capable of managing multiple projects at one time

· Highly motivated, results focused and act with a high sense of urgency

· Ability to interface and communicate clearly and effectively (both orally and in writing) across multiple levels of the organization, including senior executives. 

· Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and cross-culturally with colleagues and suppliers.

Strong conflict resolution skills.
