GitHub is changing the way the world builds software, and we want you to help build GitHub!
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced manager, with previous hands-on technical skills, to join the Data Pipelines team.
The Data Pipelines team is responsible for building and maintaining messaging systems that internal GitHub developers use to build data driven products for our customers.
This includes building out our background job processing system and internal Kafka-based infrastructure (including language-specific clients, ingestion gateways, schema services and data warehouse ingestion components).

The Data Pipelines is a fully distributed team
– the right candidate will thrive in an environment of asynchronous communication.
We expect you to have the ability to communicate complex technical concepts, and be able to create working relationships with coworkers in locations around the globe.
In this role you will provide guidance, support and advice to your team, as well as communicate and form the team’s vision with the rest of the org.
Together we create the tools and products that are integral to how people build software.
We pride ourselves on being thoughtful, intentional, and productive.
We hope you are as well.
