SUMMARY

The Office of Diversion and Reentry (ODR) is seeking Program Managers to work on Youth Diversion and Development Programs that involve partnerships between youth-serving providers and local law enforcement agencies to connect youth to community-based activities and services in lieu of arrest.

ODR’s Division of Youth Diversion and Development (YDD) was created 2018 to provide contracting and coordination to community-based programs in order to advance an evidence-informed, coordinated, and comprehensive model of youth diversion and youth development that empowers community-based organizations as the primary providers of youth diversion services in lieu of arrest with the goal of equitably reducing young people’s involvement with the justice system in Los Angeles County. Diversion providers who are awarded YDD program contracts will receive funding, ongoing tailored capacity-building, connections to potential partners for referral and service coordination, and other resources for data collection, evaluation, and communication.

ODR is seeking candidates who have experience in youth engagement or youth-focused program management, collaboration with diverse stakeholders (including but not limited to service providers, youth advocates, law enforcement agencies), a background or strong interest in criminal justice reform policy, and skills in building and improving partnerships to support program innovation. Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Provide operational, relationship-building, and project management support to program partners;
  • Develop and lead technical assistance, capacity building, and program-related support to program partners and ensure successful implementation in alignment with YDD and program goals;
  • Support relationships, build trust, and facilitate meetings with project team members, community partners, and other stakeholders;
  • Identify and prepare future partners (including law enforcement and service providers) for youth diversion programming;
  • Compile metrics and data and ensure that the program is on track for participant engagement and delivery of care coordination activities;
  • Design and implement creative and evidence-based program services;
  • Work with the YDD Director and YDD Research & Policy Manager to support additional activities and event planning related to program strategy, assessment, and data-driven improvement; and
  • Provide administrative support for YDD meetings and functions.
