Senior Revenue Manager – Opportunity for Working Remotely


This is a Full-time position in Los Angeles, CA posted May 8, 2022.

This role is fully remote and can be done anywhere in the US. There is a requirement for the candidate to work PST hours. The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity? This Senior Revenue Manager position provides an opportunity to be part of a team that helps drive revenue accounting assessments on new product introductions. You will serve as a leader and an expert in representing the global revenue team in assessment of accounting treatments on new offers, repackaging of offers, and programs, as part the company’s effort and focus on SaaS transformation. Someone who will thrive in this role will have a solid revenue accounting knowledge of ASC 606, excellent business acumen and operational knowledge, passion for working with and managing teams, and a process and goal driven mindset. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? Through your extensive knowledge in revenue operations, end-to-end (quote to cash) processes, and technical accounting you will: Represent global revenue team in assessment of new offers, changes in pricing and packaging, and new or changes to programs or policies. Determine appropriate accounting treatments of new offers or proposals put forth in the Pricing Committee process, identify technical accounting and operational risks and provide recommendations to management. Lead and provide guidance to managers in their assessments of new offers and changes, driving team towards building efficiencies in processes and gaining velocity in the team’s ability to assess and approve requests while ensuring revenue accounting conclusions are properly determined. You will be a decision maker on behalf of revenue accounting in cross functional meetings, responsible for documenting and tracking assessment of each proposal, provide executive read-outs/presentations, prepare and review accounting memos, and present accounting treatments to the global revenue team. What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? Your regular activities may be modified or extent in your participation in abovementioned activities may vary during on volume of requests, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments and activities: Participate in cross functional operational meetings, providing expertise on technical revenue accounting and operational impacts Document assessments and accounting positions Collaborate and foster trusted partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance and communicate revenue accounting positions Prepare read-outs to management in written form (email, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Provide leadership and guidance to managers Participate in regular discussions with other technical revenue accounting team members to provide updates, knowledge share or obtain consultations on complex accounting topics What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like? You will be joining the Revenue Controllership team focused on technical revenue accounting assessments of new or changes to offers and programs. The Revenue Controllership team is part of the 100+ person Global Revenue Team comprised of accountants and operations team members focused on deal review, operations, and technical revenue accounting assessment. The global team is spread throughout VMware offices including Palo Alto, CA, Austin, TX, Cork, IE, and Singapore.
