The Senior IT Manager will be responsible for managing the operation, maintenance, versioning and upgrading of applications throughout their lifecycle.
This includes best practices, techniques and procedures essential to a deployed applications optimal operation, performance and efficiency and understanding the related back-end IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities
-Coordinate with Managing Director and Operations Leadership on all aspects of Technology deliverables to increase terminal efficiency and reduce costs through refinement of processes, better utilization of resources, and elimination of redundancies.
-Lead in the development and implementation of new modernization efforts at the terminal to ensure defined metrics are met.
-Support the creation, development and deployment of APMT global solutions and security and infrastructure standards.
-Ensure proper financial controls to meet department budget guidelines, while effectively managing and monitoring a $10+ million budget.
-Directly manage the local IT team, consisting of employees and onsite and offsite vendors, ensuring the company’s interests are being addressed to the satisfaction of the customer.
-Develop long range plans to ensure all processes and systems meet the ever-changing operational requirements of the facility.
-Evaluate technologies and make recommendations to ensure compatibility and effectiveness.
-Promote good working relationships between the steamship lines, vendors, other terminal departments and ILWU.
-Represent the Terminal in all required technology meetings with the ILWU and PMA as outlined in the Pacific Coast Clerks Contract Document.
-Coordinate with all users of the system to ensure that products meet their expectations and address any inadequacies promptly.
-Ensure that all terminal staff are educated and trained to operate the systems, including the ability to diagnose operating problems as they arise.
-Review departmental requests for technology and make recommendations, as appropriate, on alternative system options.
-Establish written policies and procedures for information technology acquisition and utilization.
We are looking for
-Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
Degree in computer science, business administration or related field preferred.
-Six or more years’ experience in general IT management covering both applications and infrastructure
-Five+ years’ experience in terminal and transportation industry is a nice to have
-Experience in modernization technology is also requested.
-Ability to set operational plans with mid-term impact by maintaining standards that lead to high performance and execution
-Ability to improve and make important changes rapidly
-Ability to influence and manage up when working together across boundaries.
Comfortable working in a matrix environment.
-Broad knowledge of several job areas or mastery in specific discipline.
