The Role
The Senior Director, Originals will be responsible for achieving revenue targets and driving growth with Netflix and other key partners. We are currently the top kids brand on Netflix.
This role works closely with the MD Global Distribution (London based) and MD Americas (LA based) to ensure our partnership and delivery to goals are supported. This role is a mix of strategic and operational account service. The individuals need to provide data, insights and strategic thinking to the creation of our overall Netflix strategy and be the face of day to delivery and service.
The ideal candidate will have experience in content distribution, licensing, and business development, with a deep understanding of the kids’ entertainment market in North America. They will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships across various teams within Netflix and other licensing partners and collaborating across Moonbug departments to deliver results.
This role reports onsite at our Los Angeles location.
Responsibilities:
Provide insights and strategic input to a comprehensive distribution strategy for the company’s Netflix business
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across Netflix.
Identify and pursue new opportunities across all lines of business with Netflix working in conjunction with other company departments eg Gaming
Participate in the licensing and distribution deals with Netflix
Monitor and analyze performance to identify areas for growth and improvement
Create a cadence of account data & insights to disseminate across the key internal stakeholders and departments
Collaborate with the creative and production teams to ensure that all content is optimized for distribution
Stay up-to-date on market trends and developments in the kids’ entertainment industry
Work closely with the legal team to negotiate licensing agreements and ensure they meet legal standards and guidelines
Collaborate with marketing and communications to maximize the impact of our marketing investment
Evangelise the Netflix partnership across the company and ensure key messages and moments are shared and celebrated
Requirements
7+ years of experience in content distribution, licensing, and business development, with some experience in the kids’ entertainment industry preferred
Strong knowledge of the North American entertainment market, including streaming platforms, broadcasters and channels.
Experience negotiating and closing licensing and distribution deals
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key partners
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyse distribution performance and identify areas for growth and improvement
Experience in working with, or for Netflix is advantageous
Experience working towards and hitting revenue targets
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
Passion for kids’ entertainment and the digital media industry
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred
Strong track record of success in content distribution, licensing, and business development
Experience working with broadcasters, streaming platforms, and in North America
Knowledge of industry-standard workflows and best practices for content distribution
Experience managing budgets and forecasts for distribution revenue
Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
