Linktree is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director or Senior Director of Legal to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will be integral in leading legal initiatives and providing strategic counsel to support Linktree’s vision to empower anyone to curate and grow their digital universe. This position will report directly to the SVP of Legal and People and will be responsible for managing a small team of generalist legal professionals.
What You’ll Own
- Providing legal counsel to stakeholders across all teams on a broad range of legal issues, with special focus on product development, commerce, and partnerships
- Monitoring the regulatory landscape on laws applicable to Linktree
- Drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including for large scale partnerships
- Partnering with the SVP of Legal to identify and mitigate legal risks, and set legal goals for the year
- Managing a team of legal professionals, including facilitating their professional development

Who We’re Looking For
- Must be a licensed attorney who has passed the bar in a US state, with preference given to candidates licensed in California or New York
- Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with a minimum of 5 years of commercial law experience, at least 3 of which to have been in-house
- Extensive legal experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including partnership agreements
- Experience in providing legal counsel for a B2C online platform, with a focus on e-commerce and payments
- Proven ability in strategic risk mitigation and partnering with the General Counsel to identify and address legal goals and risks
- Excellent commercial acumen with a deep understanding of business metrics and goals and the ability to get creative with solutions
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to navigate between altitudes (high level strategic counsel and issue spotting down to detailed legal advice on specific projects)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and navigate ambiguity
- Exceptional communication skills and strong judgement
We Would Love It If You Also
- Have experience in, or working with, start-up or scale-up stage businesses
- Legal qualifications in other jurisdictions, such as Australia, the UK, or Canada
- Experience of privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA, advertising, and M&A preferred
- Experience advising on global initiatives
- Prior experience in AI

Linktree is committed to providing a competitive compensation package. Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $195k-300k in the San Francisco Bay or Los Angeles area. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate expertise, the scope of role and level, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
