Senior Director, Global Product Commercialization – SMB – Remote

Your job

As a Senior Director on the Global Product Commercialization (GPC) team at Indeed, you will drive key business decisions, deliver on strategic initiatives and identify value-creation opportunities across the business.

You will lead multiple teams and work closely with senior leadership from Product, Marketing, Partnerships, Sales, Client Success and other functions to identify and solve complex and/or ambiguous problems.

You will design strategies to grow our products around the globe.

Your goals will not be easy to achieve; they should inspire and motivate the team to think big.

You will not be compensated based on whether you deliver product features, but whether you have delivered significant business impact.

This role is focused on our entire SMB product portfolio.

Your teams will be responsible for assessing and deciding on strategies to launch new products, partnerships and features into the market.

This will include owning product feature prioritization for your product, making decisions that will optimize towards growing revenue and improving customer experience.

Your teams will create hypotheses for extending the platforms capabilities, deliver changes to validate these hypotheses, and iterate from MVP to more extensible versions.

Your teams will define requirements, measure key results, track experiments, and frequently rollout new features.

Your teams will do data analysis using the plethora of in-house tools specially built for the colossal amount of data Indeed gathers. 

You are a strategic and operational leader
– having demonstrated those skills leading cross-functional teams and dealing with senior leaders / executives. You understand how product teams work, are comfortable with a fast pace and managing many concurrent efforts.

As a senior leader in GPC, you are expected to be a thoughtful and empathetic organizational leader, and you thrive on coaching managers to lead their own teams to higher performance.

Additionally, you will play a critical role in mentoring up and coming leaders at Indeed.

You prioritize your own activities to maximize impact, and can identify and influence the teams you work with to focus on the most important issues.

You take initiative to recognize and act on opportunities to positively impact the business, and you inspire a culture of proactivity in your teams.

You are able to communicate effectively up to the SVP+ level; understanding when, and to whom communications are required.

This requires being a clear, succinct communicator, who is able to effectively influence others and develop the team’s communication and influencing skills.

Our team is located around the Globe and fully remote.

Upon offices reopening post-COVID, all roles on this team will have the flexibility to either return to the office or remain remote.

We have daily (virtual) standups, weekly prioritization, and OKR reviews, and stay closely in touch.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop an organization that independently assesses and decides on strategies to launch new products, partnerships and features into the market.

Work hand-in-hand with Product Management, Marketing, and Product to define the roadmap and develop go-to-market strategies that drive long term product adoption and revenue growth.

Identify opportunities to develop and capture cross-product efficiencies. 

• Define and guide the structure and development of your team to reflect key business needs and evolving strategy.

• Create systems and structures that empower your team to own product feature prioritization for your product(s), making decisions that will optimize towards growing revenue and improving customer experience. 

• Drive effective cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment across all of Indeed’s product portfolio.

• Identify and prioritize unmet customer or internal needs, and develop solutions to meet these
– whether within existing products or through new offerings. 

• Lead commercial / sales testing for novel product offerings we can take to market.

• Develop and write business requirements for these prioritized product features with technical, customer, and Sales/CS facing requirements
– validate after build before releasing.

• Lead product rollouts with Sales, CS, and clients.

Create processes that empower the team to proactively identify and resolve any operational issues before they arise, and develop new systems and processes as needed.

• Coach team to structure and execute analyses, whether it’s doing queries in SQL/IQL, building an excel model / Python script or using the plethora of in-house tools for analyzing data.

Select appropriate methodologies, best practices, or models.

• Enable team to leverage data to inform product commercialization decisions (e.g.

market launches, pricing, product features).

Coach team to proactively identify analytical opportunities with minimal input from senior stakeholders (managers, directors and senior directors).

• Leads team to present findings and recommendations to business unit leadership.

Influence key stakeholders to define and adopt appropriate metrics, goals and processes to achieve business objectives.

Partner with leadership (SVP+) across Product, Engineering, Sales, Client Success teams to align on key decisions.

Along the way, skillfully lead the team through challenging people situations involving conflict or misalignment amongst stakeholders. 

Who You Are

Requirements:

• Minimum 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Information Technology, Finance, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

• Minimum 15+ years experience in Product, Strategy, Management Consulting, Business Operations or other related experience.

• 9+ years directing cross-functional projects and initiatives.

• 7+ years experience leading, coaching, and mentoring a high-performing team.

• High EQ and ability to build strong relationships throughout the organization, including with senior leadership.

• Proven track record making, sponsoring, and guiding teams to complex and large-scale initiatives and data-driven business decisions from start to finish.

• Excellent skills in business modeling and pressuring testing model assumptions, and ability to inspire a culture of excellence in the same.

• Strong communication, synthesis, and project management skills.

• Self-driven and proactive; able to confidently lead and sponsor workstreams or projects to enable the team to execute successfully.

• Proven track record of developing leadership in others, succession planning, and creating structure within teams.

• A “get things done” mentality.

You move fast and you don’t settle for the status quo, always on the hunt for the next big thing.

• Experience identifying and solving messy, ambiguous problems from customers and stakeholders.

• Experience collaborating with large cross-functional teams, including legal and security.

• Ability to drive, contribute to and communicate solutions to technical product challenges.

• Passionate about defining and evaluating new business opportunities.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• 8+ years of tech industry experience
– e.g., Software as a Service, AdTech, MarTech or HR Tech.

• 5+ years of experience using Python or SQL to query, structure, and analyze data.

• Ability to coach individuals through use of Python, SQL, Tableau, and other data tools.

Excellent data-driven problem solving skills.

• Highly proficient user of spreadsheet and data analysis software (e.g., Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, Tableau).

Strongly desired:

• Graduate degree preferred – MBA, JD or post graduate, etc.

• Experience with scaling international products.

• HR Tech industry experience is a plus.

• Experience managing remote and international team members is a plus.
