Senior Director Content Strategist

What you’ll be responsible for:

Reporting to the VP, Creative Lab, you are a senior leader capable of contributing to a high-profile website as well as content projects that meaningfully drive the Marketing team – and Circle’s Corporate – OKRs. You will be directly responsible for:

What you’ll work on:

  • Shaping our website storytelling approach that guides the user journey as well as page-level narrative structure. This includes new projects, website optimization, page content and design.
  • Leading content discovery and planning for ongoing comprehensive site redesign, ensuring the right activities are prioritized to uncover users’ content needs
  • Writing UX copy for functional web elements, such as navigation menus and customer engagement flows
  • Collaborating with design and engineering to define page content hierarchy, narrative user journeys, etc.
  • You will be responsible for managing one IC Content Strategist to start, supporting and growing their capabilities through feedback and guidance as well as leading and scaling the Content Strategy discipline’s impact within the Marketing organization and beyond
  • Partnering with our internationalization team to ensure product experiences as expressed on Circle’s website and in our marketing campaigns and collateral are of the highest quality in every language and appropriate for every region’s audience.
  • Developing content guidelines that enable writers, product marketers, and other internal partners to create clear, compelling, on-brand web content across a variety of page types
  • Owning and evolving global taxonomy documentation as well as informing content tagging systems to support content, search, and SEO efforts
  • Delivering writing solutions for all website content, UX Copy including Navigation, support for short-form copy, organic social media, events, demandgen campaign, support for long form copy, product launches and email newsletters.
  • Contributing to the content strategy for the company’s intranet in consultation with stakeholders including Marketing and IT partners.
  • Ability to manage a diverse set of internal partners and stakeholders, including marketing, product, engineering, policy, comms and legal.
  • Leveraging your writing skills, user experience principles and knowledge of front-end development technical requirements to develop product copy that helps Circle customers discover, understand and use our solutions effectively
  • Participating with Director level peers on the Creative Lab team and across Marketing in the biannual planning process, allocating resources to prioritized projects based on OKRs that are most important for the company
  • Auditing the content ecosystem (website, video, webinars presentations, whiteboards, docs, websites etc) in partnership with your Digital Marketing, Website Design and Brand Strategy peers to identify opportunities for impact and scalable consistency.

What you’ll bring to Circle:

  • 12+ years content strategy experience (including brand marketing and creative/media agency management) both in external agencies and internal COEs
  • 5+ years of experience in positions of marketing leadership with proven track record
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, Master’s Degree bonus
  • Executive presence with an ability to influence and drive requirements across a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Critical thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be capable of writing and creating content that tells a compelling Circle story to customers and prospects.
  • You thrive in unstructured environments and bring order to chaos.
  • You are a believer in, and have a voracious appetite to keep learning about, the potential for technologies like cryptography and blockchain to revolutionize how money moves
  • Experience/familiarity with Slack, Coda, Asana, Apple MacOS and GSuite.
  • Comfortable designing content across surfaces and channels, including web, email, and product interfaces
  • Prior experience with systems thinking in the context of authoring and scaling content and demonstrated comfort with and excitement for driving large-scale information architecture projects
  • Experience structuring content while using best practices for inclusivity and accessibility to reach users worldwide
  • Familiarity with web design and SEO best practices for ecommerce and SaaS

Starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to: relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note that compensation ranges may differ for candidates in other locations.

Base Pay Range: $220,000 – $275,000

Annual Bonus Target: 25%

Also Included: Equity & Benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)). Circle has a discretionary vacation policy. We also provide 10 days of paid sick leave per year and 11 paid holidays per year in the U.S.
