We are currently seeking a Senior Consultant in Fire and Explosion Investigation for our Thermal Sciences Practice in Phoenix, AZ, Los Angeles, CA, Menlo Park, CA, Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, Warrenville, IL, Bowie, MD, Natick, MA, New York, NY, and Houston, TX.

In this role, you will be responsible for expanding our capabilities in this area.

You must have a strong technical background in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, combustion and fire dynamics.

Career growth will involve increasing project management duties and substantial responsibility for generating revenue and client relations, as well as hiring technical staff.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Providing consulting services on a wide variety of systems, components and designs, including:
  • Flammability of materials
  • Fire protection
  • Detection and suppression systems
  • Thermal safety
  • Industrial processes
  • Combustion systems
  • Fire protection water supplies
  • Building construction
  • Life safety
  • Fire protection code consulting
  • All aspects of building, fire, and mechanical codes

You will have the following skills and qualifications: 

  • M.S.

    or Ph.D.

    in Mechanical, Chemical or Fire Protection Engineering, or other disciplines with an emphasis in thermal sciences

  • 10+ years of related work experience
  • Professional Engineering license preferred
  • Significant business development experience with a proven track record
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, and strong mentoring skills with technical staff
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills; must be able to communicate findings in the form of reports and presentations to our clients or in a public forum
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and assertively
  • Strong project management and leadership experience
  • Must have an enduring commitment to professional development as evidenced by a track record of peer-reviewed publications, participation in technical conferences, and commitment to professional engineering licensure or certifications
  • Ability to travel with very little notice
