The Youth Center offers services in an LGBTQ+ safe and affirming environment and serves as an entry point to assist youth making the transition from homelessness to housing.

Our services include meals, clothing, support groups, a charter high school, GED and college prep program, an employment preparation, training and placement program, case management, counseling, a crisis shelter and a transitional living program (TLP).

Our community-based programs include services for youth at-home, in school or in systems of care.JOB SUMMARY: Supervise the 24-bed Transitional Living Program (TLP) and the 8-bed Independent Living Program (ILP) for youth experiencing homelessness and at-risk lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth 18 to 24 years of age.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1) Oversee the operations of the TLP and ILP for LGBTQ young adults ages 18-25;2) Provide supervision and support for staff, including recruitment, on-boarding, training, and scheduling;3) Provide supervision to youth clients and be available to de-escalate crisis situations and conduct conflict resolutions for residents and staff;4) Implement and supervise programs for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness to address their psychoeducational needs;5) Implement and supervise youth development programming, engaging youth in programming and coordinating events and activities that encourage youth involvement;6) Provide safe and structured opportunities for youth to recreate and socialize, develop social skills, gain opportunities to serve others and build self-esteem, and provide opportunities for youth participation in program development and community engagement;7) Maintain residential facility; develop and maintain systems to ensure smooth operation of the program;8) Maintain adequate inventory of food items, shower supplies, cleaning supplies and order items on a timely basis;9) Collaborate with outside commuity-based LGBTQ and youth service organizations for youth events, resources and youth development opportunities, representing the program externally as needed;10) Compile service-related data and prepare month-end reports and other administrative duties as required to meet program and funder needs;11) Develop and implement evaluation tools to regularly assess and improve the effectiveness of the program;12) Work a flexible schedule and be on-call for situations that may occur;13) Other duties as assigned;JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:1) Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people;2) A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people;3) A minimum of 3 years of experience in social services, preferably with youth who have experienced homelessness, runaways, and/or at-risk youth;4) A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience working in a residential setting;5) Knowledgeable and sensitive to the issues affecting LGBTQ youth, particularly those who have experienced homelessness, at-risk and/or may have substance abuse and mental health issues;6) Access to reliable transportation and the ability to be insured;7) Current CPR Certification;8) Bilingual skills, a plus (English/Spanish fluency preferred);9) Good verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail-oriented, and interpersonal skills;10) Good computer skills including word processing, database operations, spreadsheets, and other software systems;11) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.The Los Angeles LGBT Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering diversity within its staff.
