Responsibilities: Position Summary:The 8th Avenue Food & Provisions facility QA/Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the programs related to producing finished goods including quality parameter development, sampling and testing plans, quality batch ticket instructions and the Hold and Release of products based on product analysis and compliance with specifications.
This position is also responsible for Facility Sanitation, implementing the Environmental Monitoring Program and internal Good Manufacturing Practices inspections.
Additionally, this role assists the QA Manager with training all personnel on food quality and food safety practices and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for supporting and assisting in maintenance of Food Safety and Quality programs.Ensure plant is inspection ready at all times through internal inspections (sanitation, GMPs, etc.).Prepare reports on findings and coordinate change/repair for issues identified.Facilitate successful cleans on production lines by monitoring the schedule and assisting both teams in on time completion of their tasks.Direct the cleanAdvise the team of safe habits during the cleanDirect the pre-op inspection by the sanitation teamAssist in the pre-op inspection by the QA teamOversees all functions and organization of the QA Finished Good Lab including prioritizing the daily workflow of the QA Lab Technicians and ensuring efficient and accurate results.Hires, trains, evaluates and sets objectives for technicians to maximize unit performance.
This includes holding staff accountable to those objectives, which may include administration of disciplinary action.Recommend and implement procedures and measures to improve sanitation and quality methods, equipment performance, and quality of productLead training for both teams, and including basic food safety, quality, and sanitation training plant wide.Monitors and audits the day-to-day activities of the QA Technicians to ensure adherence to established company standards.
This includes ensuring internal inspections, swabbing, validation, and calibration activities are done on time and on budget.Participates in Commercialization Project Management by completing tasks related to finished goods and documentation.
Collaborates with R in creating new finished product specifications, COAs, Quality instructions on batch tickets, and related records to ensure final product compliance.
Maintains updates to these same records.Performs testing and evaluation from First Production runs and communicates results to R and Project Manager.Sets up and manages control samples of intermediate and finished products for use in processing.
Oversees chain of custody shipping of lab samples and subsequent results to determine compliance to assigned specifications and initiate any out of specification investigations.Supervises the release of finished product based on product analysis and compliance with specifications.Completes COAs according to customer requirements and distributes accordingly.Evaluates finished goods and intermediates at or near expiration and provides disposition based on findings including updating Oracle with extensions.Maintains the product sampling plans, sample retain programs of intermediate and Finished Goods.Tracks and trends environmental results communicating any alerts or trends to QA Management TeamOversees the calibration and maintenance of lab equipment such as scales and moisture analyzers.
Oversees the Glass and Brittle Plastic program including routine audits and corrective actions.Oversees the management of laboratory supplies, equipment and replenishment of supplies.Responds to invoices from finance related to the lab, supplies and services.Provide input for product quality and food safety improvement.Responsible for taking necessary action on all food safety and quality problems reported or observed.Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Required:BS/BA in food related field and three years of practical experience, or a two year laboratory technician degree or certification and four years’ experience in a food plant setting or equivalent work experience.1 year of leadership experience Certified HACCP.Ability to read, comprehend, and write fluently in English.Able to work with minimal supervision, and under short deadlines.Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:SQF experience desired, but not required.
