Starr Companies is looking for a Property and/or Boiler Specialist within the Starr Tech Property group.
This employee can be located in the 9 western mainland states that are within the team’s territory: Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming and Colorado.
Job Summary/Duties
This position will support our technical lines underwriting group and report in to the local Starr Tech office.
Position duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Site property loss control visits, fire protection equipment testing, phone surveys, and desk review of prospective and current clients for risk evaluation and loss potentials
Work closely with underwriting team and management in areas of risk selection and loss estimates
Account management including client meetings, report and recommendation transmittal, and oversite of account risk improvements and inspection schedule as needed
Plan review, impairment handling, client questions, and special visits as needed

Experience
Experience in performing property loss control visits for an insurance, consulting, or brokerage company (or similar)
Experience in a variety of technical occupancies, e.g.
Power Generation, O&P, Storage terminals, Chemical plants, Process industries, Warehouses, etc.
3+ years’ experience or equivalent preferred
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of loss prevention codes (NFPA, FM, API, ASME, etc.), standards and industry practices
Demonstrate ability to work independently, as well as in concert with underwriters and management
Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet report deadlines
Good communication, customer relation, public speaking and time management skills
Knowledge of property insurance products, coverages and industry workings preferred
Good familiarity with basic computer operations, software programs and office automation tools
