ABOUT THE L.A.

TRUST
Founded in 1991 in close partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), The Los Angeles Trust for Children’s Health (The L.A.

Trust) is a non-profit organization that champions school-based preventative health care programs.

The L.A.

Trust supports comprehensive school-based health clinics for some of the district’s highest-need students, and believe that student wellness is a critical factor in student academic achievement.

Our current work chiefly involves partnering with LAUSD’s Wellness Centers to provide comprehensive medical, dental, and mental health services to students and community residents is surrounding neighborhoods.

Our Wellness Centers are known collectively as the Wellness Network.

JOB SUMMARY
The Program Manager is responsible for strategic management of one or more programs which includes: capacity building with staff and students, community engagement, program strategies implementation, and program evaluation.

The Program Manager’s role is key to ensuring programs of The L.A.

Trust are implemented in accordance with agency guidelines as well as those of our funders.

Responsible for the direct implementation or supervision of program activities to fulfill scope of work requirements, the Program Manager is also involved, to some extent, with the student engagement component of our work.

Additionally, the Program Manager plays a key role in convening stakeholders and leaders to advance systemic innovation for school-based programs and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
General Program Manager Duties:
Develop scope of work or workplan and manage program activities for various grants and contracts to ensure timely completion of deliverables
Serve as the staff liaison for one or more Wellness Center campuses in Wellness Coordinating Council meetings, develop and maintain relationships with key partners, troubleshoot and resolve concerns, adapt to changing needs and build connections with school administrators, school nurses, Healthy Start staff and parent representatives, and other key stakeholders
Work with the Communications department to promote programs
Assist with data collection and evaluation activities required by The L.A.

Trust and its funders, as well as prepare program activity reports to measure program effectiveness and measure outcomes
Assist the Development department with grant proposal, grant writing and report writing
Keeps abreast essential public health research, policies and systems developments
Facilitate discussions with a wide range of stakeholders on data reports and specific indicators from the
Data xChange
Identify and include appropriate data elements in program planning efforts, delivery of health education, communication pieces, and grant proposals; such data elements should come from the Data xChange and/or government and/or reputable national and local organizations
Assist with developing program budgets and monitor spending within budget parameters
Assist with developing and revising programmatic policies and procedures
Participate in the hiring process for program staff
Supervise of deliverables assigned to consultants, contractors and/or interns, as needed
Support agency-wide and program-specific events, such as the Youth to Youth (Y2Y) Annual
Conference, as necessary
Participate in local and statewide convenings, collaboratives, and/or committees
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Recruit, supervise, and train staff
Lead direct report(s) in planning activities, delegate tasks, and monitor progress of team members
Monitors staff performance and provides ongoing performance feedback
Support professional development opportunities for direct report(s)
Approve and ensure timesheets are accurate and completed on time
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Strong working knowledge of health care, social work, community engagement, youth programs, school
– based health care, or related field
Experience working for a local government agency, school district, non-profit organization preferred
Minimum four (4) years direct experience in program delivery
Minimum three (3) years managing grants and/or contracts
Minimum of three (3) years of staff supervision (Only applicable for supervising Program Managers)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public health, social work, or related field required
Master’s degree in education, public health, social work, or related field preferred; work experience may be considered in lieu of graduate degree
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-cultural, team environment with flexibility and professionalism.
Ability to work with diverse communities and groups
Reliable, and efficient work habits with the ability to exercise initiative and good judgment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Willingness to work late afternoons and some weekends
Proficiency in MS Office Suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
Licenses and Registrations:
A valid California Class C license and automobile liability insurance required for frequent local travel
Periodic instate travel may also be required
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $57,200.00
– $62,000.00 per year
