Job Details: GROUP MANAGER LENDING TECHNOLOGYWHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?As part of the Senior Leadership Team of the Technology & Innovations team this role is responsible for embedding a world class product development, and engineering culture (bold, creative, curiosity) in a transformative organization focusing on Commercial & Residential Lending Technologies.The Group Manager of Lending Technology will formulate technology strategies and thought leadership on emerging technology opportunities in support of the Consumer & Commercial Lending Transformation roadmap. This role will partner primarily with Business Product Management (Residential and Commercial Lending) and other IT leaders to simplify, modernize and deliver scalable technology in support of the business growth.This Leader is also expected to have a significant matrix management responsibility and will be required to indirectly manage delivery across numerous technology and business groups. This role will focus on building a high-performing team that will thrive in a fast-paced continuous delivery engineering environment. Functions to be managed include agile delivery, software architecture, software development, testing and support teams. It is critical to the success of this role to effectively collaborate with the bank’s senior management. Staff managed will consist of bank colleagues, contractors, onshore/offshore staff and vendor staff to effect delivery. This role will work very closely with other technology teams including Cyber Risk, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Integration, Data Management and Analytics.Technology & Innovation DivisionAs a member of City National’s Technology & Innovation group, you will drive, develop, and maintain solutions for clients and colleagues. This is an exciting time of technology advancement and innovation across the bank, particularly within our technology teams.WHAT WILL YOU DO?• Drive strategy & vision: Working closely with Residential Lending, Commercial Lending, Digital Channels, Business Operations and Services, and other internal organizations to develop Lending Technology strategies & roadmap aligning with CNB technology & business strategy.• Drive delivery: Ensure agile delivery of solutions. Guide and coach leads and team. Drive productivity balanced with quality and time-to-market.• Improve the system & experience: Influence and help lead continuous evolution of the architecture, technical design and strategy of properties. Drive continuous improvement of the lending technology platform and development process. Evaluate and introduce tools and techniques to improve delivery of software and the resiliency of systems.• Manage production and security: Proactively ensure systems resiliency and instrumental rapid error detection and data insight to drive zero down time.• Manage the team: Hire, retain & ensure high performance for a team of developers and application support staff leveraging FTE’s, contract staff, onshore/offshore and 3rd party consultants as appropriate.• Administrative tasks: Budgeting, staff administration, etc.• Responsible and accountable for appropriate quality controls related to the financial products the bank provides, the services the bank delivers, the processes employed and the incentives with which colleagues are awarded.• All City National products, financial solutions and services are to be provided ethically and with integrity in a manner that is consistent with the client-first culture and values embodied in City National’s PRIDE statement.• Develop continuous improvement opportunities leveraging process reengineering skills.• Assist leadership in identifying and evaluating options to support our rapid growth• Operate as a thought leader and work with leadership to inspire strategic visionary thinking in order to promote transformation and change by creating awareness with CNB’s business units and colleagues regarding the initiatives being undertaken and evaluatedWHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEEDMust-Have*• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in experience in Information Technology• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a direct management leading large teams, including managing managers• Minimum of 5+ years of technology experience within the finance or finTech industry focused on LendingSkills and Knowledge• Significant experience optimizing organizations for performance including a focus on efficiency & effectiveness• Experience with implementing and managing large scale Agile implementations including the deployment of SAFe, or other similar frameworks• Experience in a matrix management structure partnering with product development teams• Significant online technology delivery, ideally with a focus on financial services• Experience with systems and applications related to Residential and Commercial Lending life-cycle• Significant financial services/banking/lending experience• Agile deployment, scaling and optimization experience• Cloud hosting & management (Azure in particular)• Technology strategy• Technology architecture• High-availability system design• Ability to provoke thought leadership in others• Hold peers accountable in a constructive way (i.e. without blaming)• Ability to influence resources to deliver in a matrix environment while maintaining high customer satisfaction.• Strong leadership skills & demonstrated matrix organization management experience.*To be considered for this position you must meet at least these basic qualificationsThe preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
