Founded in 2004, Rogue Artists Ensemble creates Hyper-theater: original, immersive, multi-dimensional experiences that celebrate the complexity and diversity of Los Angeles. We believe storytelling can be a powerful platform for social change, and we strive to include a multitude of voices and perspectives in the planning and implementation of our artistic work and operations.

Rogue is currently developing an immersive theater app and exploring stories about a closeted stuntperson, the history of the sideshow and its intersection with the disability rights movement, love notes and the scientist Marie Currie.

In addition to creating original works, the Rogue Academy includes our in school programming, workshops and Rogue Lab, our playwright development series. Many of these programs are offered for free and impact over 5,000 community members annually.

Rogue Artists Ensemble is seeking a part-time Operations Director to organize and execute all company work related to keeping the organization in good financial standing and retaining a compliant non-profit status. This role would work closely with the Managing Director and Artistic Director, with responsibilities including:

  • Oversee Quickbooks and accounts, including ensuring all bookkeeping is reconciled monthly
  • Process, print, and prepare any checks for artists
  • Tracking and executing payment on all approved incoming invoices and contracts, ensuring that invoices and contracts are paid on time.
  • Assist the Managing Director in creating contracts for artists and staff. Oversee the approved Annual Budget and
  • Workplan, updating actuals with input from the Managing Director and Artistic Director
  • Prepare a quarterly budget update for the Board of Directors with all upcoming payments and expenses
  • Ensure that all matters around Taxes, annual DataArts report, annual state of CA not-for-profit certification, and other budgetary oversights are executed in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the organization of internal file systems including Dropbox and Google drive and help with ensuring paperwork is in good standing.
  • Work with Leadership to provide any documentation necessary for grants including project budgets.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and quarterly board meetings as requested by Managing Director.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years bookkeeping, business management, or related experience in a non-profit environment
  • Proficient in Quickbooks
  • Experience in writing contracts
  • Experience in not for profit sector or community work
