Job Summary:
Manages the resources and daily activities of all nursing departments while ensuring environmental factors support high standards of patient care. Assist in the training and development of new and existing staff members. Creates and maintains an environment that is conductive to learning transfer. Coordinates the activities of the unit for each site by shifting, directing, organizing, and assigning work to the nursing staff. Provides patient care as needed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
· Develops, utilizes, and manages an appropriate number of qualified staff to provide competent, compassionate, efficient, and professional care.
· Recommends and implements changes necessary for a positive work environment
· Working with leadership, develops and implements the mission, objectives, policies, and standards for nursing care within Behavioral Health Services.
· Ensures that nursing practice goals meet changes within the healthcare environment and provide training for nursing staff as necessary and part of compliance.
· Ensures appropriate staffing meeting the requirements of Title 22
· Forecasts short and long-term goals relative to the Behavioral Health systems and operations to ensure consistency with Centered Healths overall strategic plan.
· Will be responsible for light meds/first aid
· Will have set-up and oversight of Pactox, Phleetbo (if blood cannot be drawn) and LabCorp.
· Formalize Policies and Procedures across the county and set up nursing station with OTC
· Responsible for implementation and maintenance of nursing manual for SOP
· Responsible for creating measurable performance evaluations and performing evaluations for nursing staff.
· Responsible for LAOC SOAP notes with respect to reviewing and auditing.
· Responsible for UA.
· Responsible for compliance audits with respect to nursing in KIPU.
· Will work closely with physicians in order to communicate plan of care.
· Reviews all nursing related invoices and verifies that services rendered are correct and send a copy to the accounting team ensuring that are no discrepancies in payments.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Able to set up nurse stations
· Must be a problem solver, patient, have strong communication skills and able to stay focused on completing projects
· Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the psychiatric needs of patients served with knowledge of principles of CARF guidelines.
· Ability to assess and interpret data in order to identify patient needs and provide the appropriate care, including level of psychiatric care, needed for adult/child patient population.
· Ability to exercise professional judgement in performing day-to-day activities, ensuring adherence to Centered Health policies and procedures
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelors Degree in Nursing
· Current CA RN License
· Current BLS
· Three (3) years in a management/leadership role with one (1) year of experience in Detox Center, Residential Treatment and Behavioral Health nursing.
