Mid-Level Biologist Project Manager

is seeking Mid-Level Biologist Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers who will have direct responsibility for project coordination across a variety of natural resources tasks up to and including, vegetation mapping, species habitat assessments, jurisdictional delineations and permitting, endangered species surveys and permitting, constraints analysis, and client and agency coordination.

What Do You Get To Do In This Position:
Project Management Proposal writing and development of cost and schedule estimates Organize, execute, and manage small and medium sized projects and major tasks of larger projects in a progressively unsupervised manner Provide technical direction to staff and subcontractors regarding assignments, scopes, schedules, budgets and deliverables in compliance with contract requirements Coordinate and track assignments to ensure deliverables are submitted on-time and within budget.

Serve as the Project point of contact for the client and regulatory agencies, as required Coordinate and consult with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies on scope, impact, and regulatory requirements Coordinate with subject matter experts across disciplines to manage completion of environmental reviews for projects (cultural resources, hazardous materials, water quality, land use planning, and air quality) Technical Work Conduct field surveys and preparing technical reports necessary to complete biological documentation for specific projects Perform general biological resources and habitat suitability assessments, vegetation communities and habitat types classification and mapping, plant and animal species inventories, special status plant and animal species surveys, jurisdictional delineations, resource constraints analyses, and tree surveys  Work with biology managers to obtain, summarize and analyze biological data for inclusion in biology documents such as biological evaluations, biological assessments, and natural environment studies Work with planning managers to obtain, summarize and analyze biological data for inclusion in planning documents such as environmental impact reports, initial studies, mitigated negative declarations, environmental impact statements, and environmental assessments Track and manage environmental compliance and regulatory requirements during project construction phases Conduct management and preparation of environmental documents and studies in support of regulations required under CEQA and NEPA Occasional Travel to distant areas, including overnight stays Perform other duties as requested by supervisor(s)
This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
BS/BA or MA/MS in Biology or other directly related discipline and 3-5 years (full-time equivalent) of directly related professional experience Excellent organizational, schedule, and budget management skills Past/current successes providing direction to team members on projects, being solution-oriented, and fostering positive relationships with staff, clients, agencies, and subconsultants Demonstrated experience with the following: Organizing, executing and coordinating overall project assignments Conducting general field biology assessments (often in adverse weather / terrain conditions) including, but not limited to, endangered species / habitat assessments, resource constraints analyses, sensitive species protocol surveys, wildlife identification, botanical identification and inventories, focused rare plant surveys, vegetation mapping, tree surveys (certified arborist a plus), jurisdictional delineations, including permitting per USACE, RWQCB and CDFW requirements, wetland mitigation and monitoring plans, open space management plans and other natural resources management plans, GPS & GIS mapping, monitoring for the environmental compliance of large and small projects, including planning, implementation, and monitoring for habitat restoration Technical writing (BRAs, BAs, NESs, bio sections of CEQA/NEPA docs or similar technical reports) Working with planning managers to gather and prepare material and data for planning documents such as environmental impact reports, initial studies, and mitigated negative declarations Working with interdisciplinary teams: experience working with technical experts in cultural resources, hazardous materials, water quality, land use planning, and air quality is a plus Managing environmental compliance on construction projects Ability to travel (with overnight stays) when needed Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Ability to walk on uneven terrain for extended periods of time
