Organized into 5 primary zones across the United States, Distribution plays a pivotal role representing the AIG brand across all General Insurance products and services. This team partners closely with product and functional leaders, clients and brokers, and other internal and external stakeholders to help define and execute on our growth and retention strategies.We are currently seeking a senior leader to join as Managing Director for our Southwest Region, based in Los Angeles. Representing approximately 60% of the overall gross premium written for the West Zone, the Southwest Region is a critical territory comprised of ~120 individuals, including underwriting, claims and broker/client relationship managers. The Managing Director will be responsible for leading and developing this team to achieve the regions new business, growth, and retention goals. This role requires excellent communication and relationship-building skills and an ability to align and influence internal and external stakeholders, inspiring commitment to shared objectives. The successful candidate is someone who thrives in fast-paced and dynamic environments, leading with agility and vision. The MD is based in Los Angeles and will be expected to travel in the region.What you need to know Responsibilities include: + Partner closely with Senior Management, Regional Leadership, Product and Claims leadership, Underwriting (zonal and regional), Communication & Marketing, among other functional groups, to execute and implement the Southwest Region business, talent, distribution and P strategies+ Oversee overall production, including new business, retention and driving growth in targeted products and customer segments for the Southwest Region across all AIG General Insurance products and solutions, including Financial Lines, Property & Casualty, Specialty Lines, Programs, Lexington, et al+ Act as regional office and talent manager for a team of ~120; identify internal talent and collaborate with peer managers to establish and execute career development plans+ Oversee management of all broker relationships within the region, including production results (new and renewal) as well as specific initiatives; collaborate with both Distribution and Product to ensure retail and wholesale broker strategies are executed effectively and consistently+ Develop and draw on a deep understanding of the marketplace to share market and competitor intelligence and insights+ Drive a culture of qualifying and cross selling between lines of business to ensure target submission flow for both major and corporate account segments+ Develop direct relationships with key strategic clients in the region; lead client engagement teams to produce high retention results+ Promote AIGs overall brand and standing in the marketplace, including identifying opportunities for Senior Management to enhance visibility through strategic events and meetings+ Champion a One AIG culture within the region across all AIG colleagues+ Establish presence as the face of AIG within the region.What were looking for:+ 15+ years of relevant insurance experience, including 5+ in a leadership role, and familiarity with or ability to learn full suite of General Insurance product offerings; underwriting experience is a plus+ Successful business development track record in insurance with existing broker relationships; regional experience preferred but not required+ Business and financial acumen; results-orientation+ Motivational leadership skills; able to lead diverse teams, including attracting, mentoring, developing, and retaining talent+ Account Management and partnership skills to build and grow trusted relationships with colleagues, broker, insured clients and customers+ Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills across a variety of audiences+ Solutions-orientation, agility and keen sense of prioritization, strong organizational skills and attention to detail+ Bachelors degree, MBA or equivalent experience preferredA look at our benefitsAt AIG, we have a 100-year legacy of working to make the world a better place.
