We are looking to hire a Principal User Experience Research team to play a critical role within our team.

nn nn A Lot About You nn nn As a Senior Manager Researcher you have a proven track record of leading and coaching the research team; also shaping and delivering a wide range of generative and evaluative research projects across the entirety of the product life cycle.

Your thought leadership and deliverables will be critical in our ongoing effort to better enable product and design teams to make informed, confident decisions and to set the strategy for future products and features.

nn nn What you’ll be doing nn nn Day-to-Day Responsibilities: nn nn Provides leadership and direction primarily through management-level direct and indirect reports nn nn Accountable for the performance and results of multiple, related teams nn nn Oversees the coordination of staffing, scheduling, budgeting, work processes, and procedures nn nn Supports the establishment and execution of Research overall plans/objectives, including research, product/business, and/or organizational priorities nn nn Coaching team members about research methodologies and driving research’s pov for product/ design strategy and day to day implementation nn nn Identifying key research objectives in partnership with product, design, marketing, and engineering teams to address research needs for a variety of products and projects throughout the product life cycle.  nn nn Choosing the right research to do at the right time and synthesize results into a coherent and truthful story, as well as create effective models that reflect those results such as journey maps, process flows, and user segments.  nn nn Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods nn nn Experience synthesizing large-scale data in multi-method studies nn nn Experience with survey design and response effects nn nn Designing compelling and digestible deliverables focused on visually telling the story and highlighting important insights for longevity nn nn Socializing, collaborating, and presenting research to multiple teams and leaders across the organization nn nn Other additional responsibilities: nn nn Collaborating to define best practice frameworks, research methodologies, and documentation surrounding research activities at each stage of the product life cycle, from prototyping through beta testing to market scale.

nn nn Working on strategic need-state research to drive product innovation, while managing day to day usability and product testing.

nn nn Providing guidance to junior team members and colleagues, helping teams get on the right track and stay customer-focused nn nn Turning research findings into academic publications to advance the field of HCI nn nn Qualifications: nn nn A Masters/Phd in HCI, Organizational Psychology, Cognitive Science or equivalent 7+ years of experience in applied product research.

nn nn 7+ years of experience in full product lifecycle research mixed methodology (both qual and quant) and driving product/design decisions.  nn nn Working knowledge of how to drive product discovery and innovation through need-state research.

nn nn A healthy understanding of how to balance the fast-paced, flexible nature of research with the rigor and confidence levels present in more academic research nn nn Deep experience running moderated usability labs, including expertise in task scenario best practices.  nn nn Expert knowledge of quantitative research metrics like NPS, as well as a practical understanding of sample size, confidence levels, and validity nn nn Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods nn nn Experience synthesizing large-scale data in multi-method studies nn nn #LI-DS1 nn nn Verizon Media is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
