Role Responsibilities
Leads a team of systems safety engineers to develop and maintain the ISO 26262 work products defined by the safety standard to prove compliance with the Safety Case.
Define the work packages required for compliance with the safety standards (ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL4600) and ensure adequate staffing for the project.
Responsible for the application of ISO 26262-parts 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 design principles and requirements.
Leads the development of a comprehensive system safety plan for the team, coordinate with the project safety manager, product teams, engineering teams, and tusimple’s partners (e.g.

vehicle manufacturer, component suppliers) and align with their project plans.
Supports the development of a comprehensive safety case based on UL 4600 with special focus on Risk Analysis and Dependability.
Works with team members to develop IATF 16949 and ISO 26262 Supporting Process Procedures, Instructions, and defining meaningful record collection strategies
Leads the Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis
Leads the identification of potential system misuse and/or function integrity hazards using progressive safety analysis methods (SiUA, STPA).
Leads the identification and analysis of system component single point and latent failures of system functions, using inductive and deductive approaches (FMEA, FMEDA, & FTA).
Ensures that hardware and software monitoring will detect faults and that a solid safety mechanism response is initiated
Plans and initiates support for System Integration Validation Testing, Hardware fault injection testing.

Experience & Skills Required
Hold a B.S.

or higher degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
10+ years of relevant experience
Must-have experience in being a technical leader in a group.
preferred experience managing a small group of engineers.
Must-have solid knowledge and experience in vehicle architectures and software architecture, including safety architectures.
Must-have solid knowledge or experience working with ISO 2626-parts 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9.
Must-have solid knowledge or experience in reliability engineering.
Must-have solid knowledge of experience in compute hardware architectures (e.g.

nvidia), Silicon-on-Chips, Safety Microcontrollers, computer system architecture, microprocessor, and microcontroller fundamentals (caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA, etc.), and supporting electronic circuits.
Must-have solid experience performing HARA, FMEA, FTA both quantitative and qualitative and developing Functional Safety Concepts for a complex safety-critical system.
Experience in creating detailed Hardware Software Interface specifications.

(HSI)
Experience deriving technical safety requirements from the Functional Safety Concepts, Technical Safety Concepts, and System Architecture Design.
Experience defining test and validation plans based upon Engineering and Safety Requirements Technical Safety Concepts, and System Architecture Design.
Preferred experience working with suppliers and OEMs regarding safety analysis and requirements
Preferred understanding of software simulation, validating software functions, and software safety mechanisms
Preferred knowledge or experience with software quality concepts and processes (ASPICE)
Advanced knowledge of computer architectures, low-level device programming and bus interfaces (PCIe, I2C, SPI, etc.), and overlay programming models
Preferred experience with ANSYS Medini Analyze.
Preferred experience or solid knowledge in UL 4600, ISO 21448 and ISO 21434.
