Manager – Student Progression

Description:
This position will require the individual to work within the Greater Los Angeles Area
– offices based in Los Angeles (Downtown/Hollywood) and North Orange County.

Besides handling own work load of student advising, you will lead a team of progression advisors remotely and its processes to ensure that a proactive and high-quality approach is taken with all students advising needs.

National Responsibilities

Lead all new Progression initiatives, responsible for project assignments and management, point of contact for partner program queries
Assists the preparation and implementation of department wide goals, procedures, and controls (including national timelines and workshop schedule)
Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements.
Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets
Continue to seek ways to improve overall support services provided to students
Manage national data integrity and statistics
Support progression results reporting and LQ Progression Development
Manage all Progression Advisors across US and lead monthly team call
Develop staff training activities and train new Progression Advisors
Work with Progression Advisors to ensure high flying students are supported
Ensure top 100 and top 50 acceptance rates are improving year on year
Work with Executive Director of KPU Recruitment to ensure marketing communication and recruitment opportunities are developed from each school location
Lead feedback collection on brochures/website updates
Ensure Progression Advisors provide marketing materials such as testimonials and articles for Kings Life
School Location Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of international college students and meet with them individually
Help students adjust to academic college culture in the US – provide guidance regarding academic integrity, email etiquette, extracurricular involvement and other skills needed to succeed in college
Proactively communicate with students via email and social media
Develop and maintain a cooperative relationship with pathway and host university staff
Contact admissions staff at colleges & universities on behalf of students
Communicate and support host university academic and university policies related to academic progress, course selection, degree selection, and work/life/study issues
Manage a resource library for students
Maintain database for tracking students’ academic progress and prepare regular external reports
Counsel students on admission criteria and other critical factors in the educational decision process
Remain current on university transfer requirements and rankings
Advise international students about colleges, the college transfer process, trends, procedures and testing; researching and identifying schools that realistically match student’s strengths and goals
Assist in creating and running regular workshops to help build student profiles and prepare students for a successful transfer.
Work closely with the Kings academic team to prepare students for matriculation to host school
Support staff by aiding with agent visits, phone calls, teaching, and prospective students, etc., as needed, especially during summer
Collaborate with Progression staff at other Kings locations

Requirements:
Competency, Skills, Knowledge and Ability
5+ years of international student advising experience
3+ years of people management experience
Cultural sensitivity with experience teaching ESL to students from a variety of cultural background or prior english language classroom experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Tact, patience and diplomacy, particularly with non-native English speakers
Good problem solving and creative thinking skills
Admissions/college advising or related experience
High attention to detail
Professional demeanor
Customer service experience
Ability to travel locally and domestically and work occasionally during evenings and weekends
Education

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Master’s Degree preferred.
