We’re seeking a results-oriented innovator ready to prototype and demonstrate new product solutions in a fast-paced environment.*What will you do?** Drive microfluidic design, simulation and evaluation at the component, subassembly, and full plastic assembly levels from concept through prototype and early development stages* Collaborate cross-functionally to conceive and assess the feasibility of new concepts, reduce technical risks, and drive towards final design lock, while generating IP along the way* Work with broader microfluidic team to define requirements and technical specifications, devise test methods to fully characterize product performance, systematically execute experiments, and ensure product manufacturability and reliability* Create and own critical product development documents such as Design History Files, Test Method Validation Protocols and Reports, and design Failure Mode Effect Analysis*How will you get here?**Education:** PhD in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of industry experience designing sophisticated microfluidic products for analytical life science or medical device platform projects.* Will consider Master’s degree with 6+ years of proven end-to-end microfluidic product development experience.*Experience:** Design for Excellence (DFX), product life cycle and risk management, keeper of detailed design records* Plastic assembly design and development with a focus on microfluidic structures required, including proficiency in CAD design software and Finite Element Analysis microfluidic simulation software* Proficient understanding of plastic material systems and injection molding among other manufacturing methods and processes* Familiarity with developing products in regulated environment preferred, particularly ISO 13485 and FDA QSR experience* Technical writing and documentation generation with effective written and verbal communication to a broader team*Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:** Must have excellent experimental design, data analysis / visualization, and problem-solving skills* Has strong grasp of microscale fluidic transport fundamentals with solid understanding of biotechnology tools, workflows, and chemistry in digital PCR, qPCR, NGS* Maintains a high level of professional expertise through keeping up to date with current engineering/scientific literature, competing technologies, and attendance of seminars and conferences* Can efficiently evaluate, prioritize and adapt to multiple programs/projects* Can network across a global matrixed environment* Innovate with the customer’s goal in mindOur global team of more than 80,000 colleagues delivers an unrivaled combination of innovative technologies, purchasing convenience and pharmaceutical services through our industry-leading brands, including Thermo Scientific, Applied Biosystems, Invitrogen, Fisher Scientific, Unity Lab Services and Patheon.
