Title:Manager, Relocation Tax ServicesDepartment:Global Financial ServicesFLSA Status:ExemptREPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:Reporting Matrix: VP/Director, Global Financial ServicesDirect Reports:Senior Tax Analyst, Tax Analysts, Tax SpecialistsPOSITION SUMMARY:The Manager, Relocation Payroll Gross Up & Tax Services is responsible for managing the day to day activities pertinent to Client’s Global Payroll Reporting and Gross-up on relocation expenses.
Provides leadership and direction to a team of payroll tax analysts and specialists, overseeing the timely and accurate calculation of transferees’ tax assistance (gross-up), audit of transactional expense data for proper coding, preparation and distribution of payroll/tax reports to clients and client tax partners, and the distribution of year-end tax reports to transferees.
Additionally, the Manager serves as liaison and SME for the Relocation Payroll Tax Department and on related processes.PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensures timely and accurate delivery of payroll tax services for assigned client portfolio through a team of Senior Tax Analysts, Tax Analysts, and Tax SpecialistsHiring, management and retention of Senior Tax Analyst, Tax Analysts and Tax Specialists, to include but not limited to selection, individual & team development, guidance and motivation to enhance engagement and support team members toward their goal of achieve/exceeding company and individual performance goalsDeliver training on new processes, systems, policies and procedures to current and new employeesPerform quality control audits, monitor, evaluate and prepare employees performance assessmentsSupport product / system updates with testing participation and/or oversightProvides guidance and counsel for problematic situations and escalated issuesWorks collaboratively with colleagues and service partners, pertinent to execution of position responsibilitiesRepresent the team on client facing projects and/or coordination with various stakeholdersDevelop and implement appropriate policies and procedures to maximize team efficienciesImplement processes and controls to meet contract SLA requirementsProvide input on systems implementation and enhancements to improve process and efficiencyComplete monthly, quarterly and year-end management reportsComplete additional assignments, activities and / or projects as requested by the director or Altair management teamEDUCATION:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance, or equivalent combination of experience, skills, training and educationTRAINING and EXPERIENCE:10 years of overall accounting experience, specifically in the area of payroll or relocation tax / gross-up process within the relocation industry, consulting firm or multinational company in positions of increasing responsibilityComprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, concepts and practicesComprehensive knowledge of relocation benefits, and current relocation Tax laws and regulationsStrong presentation skills before small, medium and large audiencesDemonstrated experience with accounting performance metricsPrior experience managing and/or leading large scale projects and/or supervising small teams preferredMust have demonstrated expertise using multiple software packages and payroll systems, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, MoveTrack, Solomon, and other current accounting software packagesExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and must have the ability to confidently communicate at multiple levels within an organizationESSENTIAL INTELLECTUAL FUNCTIONS:The Manager must have comprehensive knowledge of the relocation process as it pertains to policy interpretation and application.
Must be knowledgeable of current relocation tax laws and regulations; ability to communicate and provide consultation to Clients regarding different gross up methodologies and impact to cost, adept with cost analyst.
