nnThe Manager of Attorney/Consultant Compensation will handle all accounting and reporting for the attorney and consulting compensation function.& & This role will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures to align with the Firm’s goals and competitive practices.& & This position can be located in either Los Angeles or Chicago.nn nn& nn nn Responsibilities: nn nn& nn nn Attorney/Consultant Evaluations nn Prepare mid-year reports on financial performance for Equity and Income Partner candidates (Does this process apply to Consultants?) Work with COO and CFO to establish year end calendar for compensation process Prepare year end compensation worksheets for Equity Partners, Non-Equity Partners, Counsel, Advisors, Associates and Consultants Review contracts for performance based bonuses and complete calculations for inclusion in compensation workbooks Confirm base compensation for all groups for the following year for inclusion in compensation memos Prepare and distribute year end compensation memos Provide schedule of base compensation changes and bonuses to Payroll Conduct periodic reviews to ensure Firm timekeeper compensation is in line with market nn & nn nn Partner Capital nn Prepare schedule annually to evaluate capital by level to support any proposed increases Maintain schedule of partners’ capital and associated loans Prepare Income Allocation and Paid-in-Capital Reconciliation for equity partners departing mid-year Maintain capital liquidation schedule for departed partners to ensure capital is returned consistent with the partnership agreement and with capital loan programs nn & nn nn Non Equity Partner and Counsel compensation nn Evaluate income partner and counsel performance in accordance with the benchmarks outlined in the Base Compensation Structure to ascertain the compensation tier for each partner and counsel; prepare a schedule of supplemental payments for Payroll nn& nn nn Budget nn Calculate the budgeted net income required to attain the desired increase in performance payments per level based on level adjustments, additions and departures in the new year Update Budget software with changes in base compensation and bonuses for original budget Updated Budget software with changes during the year and monitor budget to actual nn& nn nn Qualifications: nn Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Accounting or Finance required.
CPA and Public Accounting experience is highly preferred.
A minimum of seven years’ experience (5 years’ experience with a CPA).
Professional service firm experience also preferred.Experience with Partnership accounting or Partnership tax a plus.
Ideal candidate will have strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive projects and operational plans with excellent organizational skills.
Requires understanding of the financial performance metrics and levers critical to the successful operation of a client-centered professional services environment, preferably a partnership .
Must have fluency with advanced functions of Excel, major accounting systems ( Aderant a plus), and proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required with the ability to clearly and concisely explain complicated information to non-accountants and have the ability to influence others to make changes.
Executive presence and polish, with the ability to confidently and effectively work with lawyers and consultants.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
Understand client service within a professional services organization, and is driven to exceed expectations.
Ability to respond to multiple priorities and meet varying deadlines.
