Manager, Engineering Tool Design

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Tool Design Department Manager for our Solid Rocket Motor Production area.

This position will be located at our growing facility in Camden, Arkansas.

In this role, you will function as the Primary Point of Contact on all projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group and results are typically accomplished through experienced exempt employees.

This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each) 20% Act as the primary contact and leader for the Tool Design Department, providing tool engineering process direction and leadership to tool engineers supporting production and new product components.

20% Develop, implement, and maintain a sustainable method for tracking the status and budget of all tool design jobs, both in-queue and active jobs.

20% Provide support for the Special Initiatives group across the organization to lead/facilitate initiatives to improve the company’s overall performance.

Focus areas on product flow, enterprise wide affordability initiatives, business systems, facility consolidation, and facility efficiency.

10% Provide direction to direct report engineering staff based on general policies and management guidance, recommend modifications to operating policies, and interpret and execute policies the typically affect direct report organizational groups.

10% Provide assistance to direct reports in meeting established schedules and to resolve complex technical or operational problems, and supervise engineering or analysis activities, developing new concepts, methods or technologies.

10% Plan for and execute budgets for the effective operation of the supervised group.

10% Provide assistance for cost estimating and proposal efforts for new and existing business, and assist with cost analysis for program make/buy decisions.

Requirements Requires a Bachelors degree in an appropriate discipline and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control the activities of the assigned organization.

Must have excellent MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.

Background in Tooling or Manufacturing Engineering is desired.

May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S.

Security Clearance at the appropriate level.

Requires U.S.

Citizenship, U.S.

Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S.

Person.

Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements: The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e.

ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 35 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels.

May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.

May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.

Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary.

Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations.

May require the ability to travel by air or auto.

These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
