Manager, Diversity and Outreach Initiatives University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: 38400 Salary: $4,692 – $10,075 Monthly Position Description: Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Diversity, Inclusion and Admissions (DIA), the Manager of Diversity and Outreach Initiatives will manage, administer and implement activities related to outreach, recruitment, diversity initiatives, and sponsored projects, including providing coordination and oversight for interactions with approximately 130 graduate programs. Examples of these activities include the Competitive Edge summer bridge program for entering doctoral students, UC-Historically Black Colleges and Universities (UC-HBCU) Initiative, UC-Hispanic-Serving Institutions (UC-HSI) Doctoral Diversity Initiative, California State University (CSU) Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Scholars summer program, the UC Growing Our Own initiative, and other diversity-related recruitment programming and events. Having responsibility for the supervision of the graduate recruitment plan, the manager will market and promote UCLA graduate programs, develop and sustain partnerships with constituencies at UCLA and other institutions, manage recruitment and recruitment-related diversity events and programming, and travel to professional conferences and DIA-related workshops and meetings. Incumbent will also provide counseling/information to prospective, admitted, and incoming UCLA graduate students and direct staff functions and training related to this task. Major duties include: supervision; training and evaluation of staff; managing the development, execution, and analysis of recruitment, outreach and DIA-related efforts; data/information analysis and report-writing; creation and delivery of trainings on inclusive admissions, recruitment and yielding practices to department faculty and staff; development and implementation of recruitment marketing and communications; development and management of budgets for recruitment and outreach events, and provision of general and specific information and assistance to applicants, students, and faculty. The Manager of Diversity and Outreach Initiatives will work with the Assistant Dean in short- and long-range planning regarding the design of recruitment databases, forms, publications, procedures, and staff trainings to support the goal of making the UCLA graduate student population more diverse. The Manager will prepare reports and maintain accurate records to support quarterly, annual and long-range planning, and assist with planning, budgeting and preparing applications for external funding. Incumbent independently prioritizes and completes ongoing tasks, recommends changes in programming or procedures based on knowledge and experience, and communicates directly with applicants, students, staff, faculty, and the general public. The Manager will supervise, train, and mentor one professional staff member as well as student staff supporting DIA-related projects and initiatives. As needed, the Manager will assist with processing applications and administering procedures for graduate admission along with the rest of the DIA team. Other assignments are made by the Assistant Dean as needed. Special Instructions: The target salary range for this position is between the posted minimum and $6,167 monthly.
