The Role

AXS’s Business Intelligence and Strategy team has built a foundation for strategic analyses and reporting through our internal BI platform (Looker) and other products our clients and partners use for insights every day.

We’re looking for a Manager of Analytics Engineering who will lead a growing team as we scale those offerings and continue to build meaningful insights for the business.

This role will work directly with AXS leadership as well as clients and partners in the US and abroad (Europe and Japan).

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a growing Analytics Engineering team which builds the foundation for many key initiatives across AXS
  • Leverage engineering methods and best practices to deliver well-defined, tested, documented, and code-reviewed data sets
  • Work with Data Science, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, and Product to understand and guide the data underlying our metrics
  • Provide thought leadership in defining models such as marketing attribution, pricing and inventory optimization, and customer affinity
  • Work across functions in the organization and with clients and partners to understand and address their data & analysis needs
  • Help define strategy, best practices, and the roadmap for Analytics Engineering at AXS
  • Drive complex problems through to solutions
  • Work closely with Data Science team to identify and integrate new data sources

What to Bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working with data
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience (or related) with a proven ability to build high performing teams and lead complex technical initiatives
  • Solid understanding of best practices with data (hygiene, modeling, testing, monitoring)
  • Experience defining core data models (core business, marketing, finance, etc)
  • Technically proficient; this role works in Git, Snowflake, dbt, SQL, and LookML
  • Enjoy helping others grow, whether on your team (managing / mentoring) or within the organization
  • Willingness to adapt to a fast-paced work environment; hack, test and learn mentality; team player
  • Experience with pricing and inventory analyses a plus
  • Experience with python a plus (we use Airflow for orchestration)
  • Structured thinker with strong organizational and communication skills
  • Initiative taker who finds creative and scalable ways to solve problems
