Immediate Openings Marketing Director Los Angeles

Marketing Director-Dad Grass

Dad Grass is on the hunt for a Marketing Director to lead growth, social, digital, PR, influencer, experiential, brand and product marketing initiatives. High-level responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying, connecting with and growing key audiences through thoughtfully-crafted product, digital, engagement and other business-driving marketing programs.

Our team is small and we all wear many different hats (including dad hats). On any given day you could be creating a new Mom Grass campaign, digging into customer data, iterating on creative and refining for growth & acquisition, evolving our social media strategy, developing an influencer program, chatting it up with the media, optimizing our email flow, working with our digital agency and building our affiliate marketing program. Point being, you probably won’t be an expert in everything you’re responsible for, but with a positive mindset and can-do attitude, you’ll get it done and learn a thing or two along the way. And we hope we will too.

You’ll be working directly with the co-founders and collaborating with the product and sales teams. As an early employee and departmental leader, you’ll be deeply involved in driving the strategy and managing the specifics of the brand’s entire marketing ecosystem. That means that you’ll take ownership from inception to execution; planning, monitoring and delivering successful projects that are on time, on budget, and on brand.

Among other things, you will:

  • Lead all communication, awareness, growth and engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and execute a world-class growth and acquisition strategy
  • Create a successful content marketing machine, with a focus on social, including paid, email and SEO-based content.
  • Build content and collateral to support digital marketing, sales, affiliate marketing and other B2C/B2B initiatives.
  • Manage multi-channel promotional campaigns (email/web/social/retail/events) that amplify the signal of each engagement initiative.
  • Conceptualize, plan and produce a wide range of creative assets including photography, video and copy.
  • Lead the next phase of the company’s overall social strategy with a keen focus on storytelling, growth and community engagement (IG, Tik-Tok & Twitter)
  • Assume day-to-day responsibility for all social media platforms
  • Lead the development of a next-level influencer marketing operation.
  • Build the Dad Grass community through social, digital efforts and ‘IRL’ event engagement activities
  • Support sales and bring Dad Grass to life throughout our nationwide Dealer network by developing and implementing promotions, activations, specialty POS and other retail activations.

We think you would be most successful in this job if you…

  • Have 8+ years of marketing experience, with a consumer-driven product or service, ideally with experience at a start-up. Past responsibilities should include growth & acquisition marketing, social media management, media relations, events/activations, product marketing and content creation.
  • Have had a similar role in a growing DTC/CPG brand, understanding the needs and nuances of a start-up, particularly that youll be both developing strategy and executing those strategies
  • Have extensive experience with social media management; including copywriting, community management, content creation and targeted advertising.
  • Have extensive growth & acquisition marketing experience & successes – both strategically & exceptionally
  • Are an excellent communicator and writer that can translate ideas into compelling copy
  • Have press relations experience (not required, but ideal)
  • Geek out on brand positioning, messaging & communication. Are constantly excited to explore new brands and understand CPG competition at large, and have the ability to harness market trends and competitive analysis
  • Demonstrate a high emotional intelligence. That means you have excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. You nurture and maintain positive and reliable connections. And most importantly, you are open, honest & transparent.
  • Are deeply knowledgeable about and involved in multiple cultural spheres. We are a collective of obsessives and we’re passionate about our passions, whether it be weed, music, style, food, outdoor sports, art, or books. Your particular areas of interest are less important than your insatiable curiosity to explore and engage.
  • Are dedicated, creative, fast-moving & scrappy. Youre known to operate with passion, creativity, urgency, focus, and discipline. Projects and priorities might shift rapidly, but you’re comfortable in the gray zone, always ready to roll with the punches.
  • Have solid fundamentals. That means you have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, you’re highly organized, excellent at project management, pay attention to the details, and you’re a self-starter with a reputation for always following through.
  • Are able to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced, creative startup environment and have a proven track record of delivering quality work at a high volume in a tight timeframe.
  • Have the ability (and desire) to work nights and weekends when needed
  • Have the desire to be a part of a small but mighty start-up and the drive to be instrumental to its growth. We are looking for a partner that wants to get in on the ground floor, stay in it for the long haul, and share in our successes (that means equity).

*If you like the sound of this gig but are afraid you might not be as qualified as some of the other folks out there, we still encourage you to apply. We’re most interested in the types of intangibles that don’t fit on a traditional resume (for example, we don’t care what school you went to, as long as you’re passionate about learning). Our number one priority is to build a diverse team of people whose individual skills balance and complement one another. We hire great people from a wide breadth of backgrounds, not only because it’s the right thing to do, but also because it makes our work, our company and our communities stronger.

Were an equal-opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.

Who Are We?

We’re Dad Grass. We’re an independent, founder-led company based in Los Angeles. We started making hemp CBD joints in the Spring of 2020 and haven’t looked back since. You should be able to get a sense of our vibe from our website and Instagram. You can also read what Vice, GQ, and Refinery 29 recently said about how we do things. Behind the scenes, we’re just a group of straight-up, well-intentioned people trying to build a brand and business that we can all be proud of. We’re a small team that isn’t afraid to think big or dive into the details. We like to tell meaningful stories. We obsess over everything we make. And we work really hard, but we smile while doing it. As we always say, if you’re not having fun building a weed brand—you must be doing something wrong. Let’s have a little fun, shall we?

Please apply by sending your resume to careers@dadgrass.com Note – DM’s will not be responded to. Thank you!
