About: Grants Manager is responsible for the development, writing and submission of public (government) grant applications; day-to-day grant management, compliance and reporting; and maintaining working relationships with Cast’s government grantors.

They will grant manage a portfolio of approximately 20 local, state and federal grants worth $8m, which is likely to increase in line with Cast’s business plan.

Cast’s public donors carry out regular grant renewal processes to ensure they can continue funding our vital programs..

This role is best suited to someone possessing strong writing skills
– using storytelling and data to demonstrate impact, research and data analysis experience, excellent budgeting and project management skills, and a track record of winning grants for non-profit organizations..

The Grants Manager reports to the Associate Director of Strategic Funding and Communications who will partner with them on complex projects..

Stay abreast of funder plans and identify relevant grant opportunities that match identified organizational strategic priorities and needs..

Manage proposal development schedule to allow sufficient time for organizational input.

Keeps relevant staff informed about upcoming proposal deadlines and input requirements..

Lead grant proposal development and submissions – write narrative and develop budgets (in close collaboration with program managers and finance staff): gather, prepare and organize materials for proposals, and submits to deadline.

Coordinates contract grant writers when applicable..

Facilitate new grant set up and ensures program staff and others are apprised of their roles and responsibilities and key grant information.

Monitor programs’ implementation of grant deliverables and impact according to contract agreements and escalates discovery of obstacles to project delivery or expenditure.

Analyze grant expenditure trends and make recommendations for cost control..

Conduct regular grants reconciliation meetings with finance, programs and other relevant staff, with a focus on variances.

Support Cast Accounting to ensure proper invoicing, accounting, and financial reporting.

Coordinate grant budget modifications with Cast Accounting to ensure grant funds are optimized.

Manage reporting schedule to allow sufficient time for organizational input.

Keeps relevant staff informed about upcoming report deadlines and input requirements..

Create and submit regular detailed narrative reports to grantors on implementation of deliverables and organizational impact.

Provide data performance measures as needed..

Support staff allocation process to ensure grant funds for staff are optimizes.

Respond to donor program staff requests for info in a timely manner.

Utilize various donor online systems to submit, monitor and report on grants, and troubleshoots with the various platforms e.g.

JustGrants (Department of Justice).

Facilitate funder site visits.

Other.

Plans grant application and staff allocations to ensure ending grants are replaced.

Monitors pending grant applications and makes recommendations to program staff based on risk levels.

Maintain highly organized grants filing systems (electronic and hard copy).

Identify opportunities and develop strategies to optimize grants administration systems..

Work closely with Cast’s database manager to optimize grants database functionality.

Communicate with donor program staff as needed.

Share learning and areas for development with Cast senior staff.

Coordinate turnaround of urgent contract-related tasks e.g.

CEO signature.

Support Accounting with annual audit requests for information.

Attend relevant working groups, meetings and conferences as needed (US travel).

Perform related and other duties as assigned..

Essential Skills and Requirements.

3+ years work experience in developing non-profit grant proposals.

Experience writing for and managing public grants preferred..

Demonstrated knowledge of working with multicultural communities and human rights issues.

Experience at a human rights-based nonprofit preferred..

Understanding of the issue of human trafficking, Cast’s mission and strategic goals, and ability to translate these into persuasive, winning grant proposals..

Demonstrated analytical, persuasive writing and research skills, as well as superior editing skills, including ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience..

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people from a variety of professional backgrounds and life experiences..

Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills..

Excellent written and verbal communication skills..

Ability to perform in a cross-functional team environment..

Financial management skills including developing and monitoring budgets and financial reporting..

Ability to prioritize work, meet competing deadlines and produce quality results on time, with exceptional attention to detail..

Proficient in using computers with related knowledge of software programs and internet.

Experience in Microsoft Office and grant management software..
