Manager of Institutional GivingFLSA Status: Non-exemptSUMMARYThe Assistant Manager of Grants is responsible for securing institutional support and helping to maintain sustainable grant management processes in support of A Place Called Homes programs, priorities and operations.
Supervised by the Sr.
Manager of Institutional Giving, the Assistant Manager will oversee a portfolio of 25-35 active grant prospects and solicit, develop, steward and report on grants from foundations and corporation donors.
The Assistant Manager will lead on prospect research and, in collaboration with partners on the Development team, and help build a strong pipeline of institutional support.
The position requires the ability to work independently, good project management skills, a desire for interdepartmental collaboration, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This is a full-time hybrid position that requires a minimum of two days of in-person work at the APCH Center with remote work.
While APCH is pleased to offer flexible scheduling, our expectation is that the individual in this role will be fully present during regular business hours even when working remotely, participatory in special evening and weekend engagements and on-site at our vibrant campus as required.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement solicitation and cultivation strategies for grant seeking in order to meet annual fundraising goals; cultivate positive relationships on behalf of the agency with assigned institutional funders;Provide project management for grant-seeking activities; serve as project lead for grant opportunities in portfolio including proposal development and reporting on project activities and financials; track relevant grant submission dates, benchmarks and milestones; support grant opportunities outside of portfolio when needed;Prepare and submit timely grant proposals and reports according to established processes and procedures; compose cogent and compelling narratives, letters and other written communications in support of APCHs program priorities and organizational goals;Plan and implement a prospect research program to develop grant sources consistent with APCHs goals and priorities; interpret proposal guidelines, funder interests and priorities for program staff and agency leadership as required;Partner effectively with program staff to develop content rich narratives that accurately depict new and ongoing services and ethically reflect the APCH community; collaborate across teams to develop creative stewardship activities and engagement opportunitiesDevelop proposal and project budgets as required by funders; with the support of the Senior Manager of Institutional Giving partner with Accounting to develop accurate and readable grant financial reports;Track foundation grant reporting requirements in Salesforce to ensure compliance with external deadlines and foundation processes; maintain electronic and physical files for current and prospective donors; implement and refine grant management systems and the organization of digital assets under the Sr.
Managers supervisionAnticipate reporting needs and deadlines, develop reports in partnership with program staff or other colleagues as appropriate, and prepare in advance for on-time submissions;Develop and maintain knowledge of Los Angeles-based funders and the broader philanthropic landscape;Perform other tasks as assigned, including contributing to all-hands fundraising activities and community events.QualificationsTo perform this important job successfully, the Assistant Manager of Grants must be able to fulfill all of the elements of the Job Description to the highest standard, and be able to work well with colleagues in a high energy, collaborative environment with open communications.
