FFA Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The FFA Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of Social Workers to ensure appropriate delivery of comprehensive trauma informed, culturally relevant, age and developmentally appropriate services to placed children/youth. The FFA Supervisor ensures the Social Workers coordinate appropriate care and flexibility of services to placed children/youth to ensure safety and well-being, and promote successful service and permanency planning and meet goals and objectives as per treatment plan. The FFA Supervisor shall supervise a maximum of 8 social workers or fraction thereof.

DUTIES:

  1. Maintains a highly-structured, cooperative, and positive work environment by exhibiting effective management and leadership to social workers and staff.

  2. Works with the Director to determine organizational needs, implement and manage appropriate policies and processes for staff relating to internal operations and program needs.

  3. Conducts staff meetings, in-services, and trainings to social workers and staff.

  4. Provides direct supervision to assigned social workers to ensure compliance with agency policy and procedures, DCFS requirements, and CCL regulations.

  5. Participates in the hiring and performance evaluating of Social Workers and agency support staff.

  6. Works with contractual agencies to ensure on-going compliance, conducts assessments involving any allegations, complaints, and all matters pertaining to deficiencies and non-compliance by foster parents and develops corrective action plans to rectify any issues.

  7. Reviews initial and quarterly needs and services plans, assists Social Workers in developing appropriate treatment and discharge plans in collaboration with Child and Family Team, and ensures they are submitted to placing agency within required timeframe.

  8. Reviews and approves initial quarterly, discharge, and incident reports prior to submission to CCL and placing agency.

  9. Reports any substantiated or suspected child abuse allegations to the appropriate persons and agencies.

  10. Ensures resource homes meet Title 22, DCFS, and Agency health and safety standards. Conducts home inspections of resource homes, documents violations and/or deficiencies of regulations and reports said violations to administration, works with social workers and resource parents to correct deficiencies and ensures on-going compliance with standards.

  11. Assists in the recruitment and selection of resource parents; conducts orientations and pre-approval trainings of prospective resource parents; conducts, reviews, and approves home studies and prepares, reviews, and approves written home assessment reports with recommendations for approval; conducts home inspections of prospective resource homes.

  12. Assists in the initial placement of children in resource homes; conducts pre-placement screening of child/youth/NMD, assesses capabilities of potential parents, and approves the matching/placement of children with resource families.

  13. Provides on-call emergency support to Social Workers, resource families, and children.

  14. Participates in performance and quality improvement and risk prevention and management committees.

  15. Adheres to Agency safety protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters Degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school in social work or social welfare, marriage, family, and child counseling, child development, counseling psychology or social psychology

  2. Minimum three (3) years social work employment in the field of family or child welfare.

  3. Demonstrates ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  4. Valid California’s Drivers License and insurable driving record

  5. Criminal record and health clearances

  6. Demonstrated experience working with an ethnically, culturally and racially diverse client populations

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Must have the visual, physical and technical ability to independently operate a variety of office equipment including the use of a computer.

  2. Must be capable of bending, stooping, filing, lifting of at least 25 lbs. and able to interrupt physical altercations.

  3. Must have the ability to verbally communicate well with others.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS/INTERACTIONS:

1. Interfaces with all levels of management, staff, clients and families including partner agencies.
