The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Environmental Engineer Senior Manager to join the team in either Mesa, AZ; El Segundo, CA; Tukwila, WA; Seattle, WA; Philadelphia, PA; Berkeley, MO; or Hazelwood, MO.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled senior environmental managers to join the Boeing environmental leadership team. This position will support Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) locations for the United States. As the senior environmental leader for BDS, you will play a crucial role in leading the Boeing site environmental teams across the Boeing Defense, Space, and Security sites. The selected candidate’s roles will include ensuring environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and company policies and procedures, and supporting the implementation of the Boeing sustainability goals. Your leadership will help to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and strategic thinking for each business unit and to help the company further develop its commitments to environmental leadership and competitive edge in the aerospace industry.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads the execution of company environmental strategic imperatives at the business unit and site level

  • Fosters a culture of collaboration and team cohesion amongst the business unit and enterprise level community

  • Leads Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programs

  • Builds effective relationships with external stakeholders including government agencies, industry associations, environmental organizations, and internal stakeholders (Global Real Estate and Facilities, Site Operations, and Global Enterprise Sustainability)

  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the environmental employees and first-level managers

  • Provides knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and best practices, with a strong understanding of sustainability principles

  • Identifies and prioritizes key environmental initiatives and drives action plans with teams

  • Maintains communication and interpersonal skills while effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels

  • Integrates sustainable best practices and 4 walls (energy, greenhouse gas, water, and waste) metrics in business unit processes, projects, and company initiatives

  • Applies lean practices to develop organization and leads effective organizational management

  • Develops and executes integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guides the development of business and technical strategies, goals, objectives

  • Manages expectations of executive leadership team, build strong plans and schedules, and meet deliverable commitments

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes

  • Acquires resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements

  • Utilizes analytical and problem-solving skills for the use of data analytics to drive decision making

  • Develops the implementation of Boeing Problem Solving Method, lean practices, and operational management principles

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, geology, physics, computer science or mathematics

  • 10+ years of experience leading teams in a formal and/or informal role

  • 10+ years of experience in functioning in a cross-functional environment

  • 5+ years of experience in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)

  • 3+ years of experience with environmental compliance, environmental programs, spill procedures, air quality, and/or water quality

  • Capable of traveling 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • 5+ years of experience performing Environmental Management, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental policy, or Remediation

  • Experience developing employees and building organizational talent

  • Professional environmental sustainability certifications or related (e.g. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), etc.)

Summary pay range: $153,000 – $221,950
