Educational Consultant

Description: Position Summary : The Educational Consultant (EC) is self-motivated, intelligent, and organized. This position focuses on driving sales for F.A. Davis content and solutions to nursing and health professional academic accounts. Assigned accounts include colleges, universities, as well as other higher educational accounts. The EC’s primary objective is to grow sales in his/her territory and meet yearly sales goals. To meet this objective, the EC allocates his/her time between business development, closing opportunities, and customer service/customer relationship management. Minimum Qualifications/Experience: · Ability to work independently and productively with a positive attitude and minimal day-to-day supervision · Highly organized, detail-oriented, persistent, and able to prioritize tasks · Proven ability to develop rapport, understand customer needs/pain points, overcome objections, and persuade (in order to be able to successfully execute a consultative selling approach) · Highly developed verbal, written, and phone-based communication skills · Proven ability to conduct effective webinars. Experience hosting webinars and new product demonstrations over the phone, using established conference call/webinar technologies such as WebEx, GoToMeeting, Join.Me, etc. · Experience selling digital, online products, and print products to higher education (health science) customers preferred Key Duties and Responsibilities: · Meet or exceed assigned yearly sales goal · Use of consultative and negotiating selling skills to uncover and close opportunities to advance sales · Maintain strong level of digital and print product knowledge · Develop, maintain, and keep current all account records in CRM system, including documentation and maintenance of opportunities and documentation of communication with customers · Deliver in-person or WebEx orientation sessions to EC’s key customers at the beginning of a semester · Assist eLearning Specialist in the Digital Publishing department with customer/instructor training and stimulation of usage of digital products for EC’s customers · Report on market conditions, trends, and opportunities in the competitive environment · Monitor and manage territory expenses, including comp copy distribution to ensure compliance with forecasted budget · Complete special projects as assigned by the Regional Sales Manager EC 2: · This position covers a condensed range of territory and accounts requiring the EC’s base location to be within driving range. Roughly 70% travel (mostly car) required. · Consistently grows territory sales · Ability to use consultative selling to uncover and close opportunities with limited assistance from the EC manager · Solid understanding of the higher education nursing and health professions publishing business or at least 3-5 years’ consultative selling experience in other industry Education/Certifications: · Bachelor’s degree required Reporting to this position : N/A Physical demands and work environment: · Work conducted in home office and at assigned account locations · Frequent travel – driving and flying. · Frequent communications – verbal and written · Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing · Frequent sitting and/or standing, walking · Frequent handling inventory – carrying books from place to place PM22 Requirements: PI182567639
