Director, Field Operations & Data Analytics / Management to join our growing Commercial team.
The Director / Sr.
Director, Field Operations & Data Analytics / Management will lead the team responsible for operational support for Agios’ Field teams (including field reporting & analytics, incentive compensation activities), as well as developing and deploying advanced analytical solutions to identify and respond to potential patient opportunities.
The role will have the responsibility for assimilating commercial data (trade, patient services, third party claims, etc.), developing and executing the optimal data integration and governance strategy, and powering the organization with data and insights to continuously improve performance, and ultimately, patient outcomes.
The Director / Sr.
Director, Field Operations & Data Analytics / Management, who will report to the VP, Commercial Operations & Analytics (COA), is charged with leading the function as a “player-coach”, with the ability to manage and develop a high performing team, and flex between the strategic and detail / hands-on level.
This role will have regular and recurring responsibility for presenting business insights to Agios’ senior leadership (CCO, VPs of COA, Sales, Marketing, Market Access).
The role will also partner regularly with different functional groups both within the Commercial organization (Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Sales) and across other departments (IT, Finance, Legal, HR, Medical and Compliance).
The individual must be a strong leader, well-organized, strategic-minded while being detail-oriented and have a collaborative mindset, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
Field Operations
- Lead all field operations activities, including field force deployment strategy, alignments, performance reporting, geographic business planning and incentive compensation design and administration
- Lead customer, trade, and patient services analytics as well as field sales reporting
- Develop and execute standardized sales performance reporting and analytics allowing team to make specific fact-based recommendations to support management decision.
Develop and maintain standard daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the sales team
- Manage the design and deployment of field teams, including geography and account alignments
- Lead field incentive compensation planning and administration, including goal allocations / quota setting, plan and contest designs, budget oversight, and, in coordination with Accounting, payout processing
- Enable the sales team with the tools necessary to be effective in their roles and meet their objectives
- Serve as analytical thought-partner with Field Sales leadership
- In close partnership with IT, build and manage systems infrastructures and processes to support Commercial planning and reporting requirements
- Provide analytical expertise to support brand teams’ decision-making based on field insights
Data Analytics & Management
- Ensure data and systems infrastructure meets the needs of the Commercial teams and be the organization’s subject matter expert in commercial data sources and advanced analytical tools and solutions
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial data sources (claims, diagnostic testing, specialty pharmacy, and patient services data), and how they can be assimilated to produce impactful insights which inform commercial strategy and support tactical execution
- Create a strong partnership with the Commercial Analytics team (within COA) and other commercial teams to identify critical business questions
- Design and deploy analytical solutions in support of customer segmentation and targeting, patient flow modeling, as well as promotion response and return on investment analytics
- Provide guidance to drive data investments to optimize resourcing
Other Key Aspects
- Develop insightful views of Commercial data and business drivers to share with executive management and Commercial partners in concert with the commercial analytics team
- Collaborate with internal partners to execute business operations, while also looking for ways to generate operational efficiencies
- Ensure accuracy and integrity for all compliance-related policies, reporting and programs in support of established requirements
- Ensure that Function is aligned and supportive of the Agios business marketing, market access and sales strategies
- Support key initiatives across the commercial/sales organization as project manager
- Continuously improve all related processes and policies, including but not limited to, CRM, incentive compensation program, performance reporting & analytics, etc.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS with concentration in Life Sciences, Marketing, or Business; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic data analytics, commercial operations, or consulting
- Biotech or pharmaceutical US marketplace launch experience
- Rare disease experience preferred
- Deep / Hands-on expertise in secondary data sources and data management methods (e.g., syndicated sales, longitudinal patient-level claims data, payer data)
- In-depth experience utilizing key secondary pharmaceutical data sources
- Excellent Excel-based modeling skills
- Experience with machine learning algorithms
- Excellent analytical & communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations to general audiences, as well as executive-level audiences to support executive-level decision making
- Proven track record of working collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships; ability to influence without direct authority
- Excellent problem-solving skills
