Director, Sales

THE OPPORTUNITY

We want to take the Company to the next level and this is where you come in. As a Regional Director, Sales (So Cal) on our Sales team, you know how to motivate and run a solid sales team while keeping strong customer partnerships. You know what it means to go above and beyond by driving business results and delivering superior customer service. You’ll provide leadership to our Account Managers in the Southern California region as well as being responsible for business planning and our go-to-market strategy. The role straddles strategy and operations and will serve as a key member of our sales leadership team.

You are a self-starter, organized, adaptable and take the time to understand every aspect of our business. You embrace continuous customer engagement and opportunities to grow your accounts. As a team player, you build strong relationships with accounts to support the growth your team and the business. You have a passion for the cannabis industry and have a good understanding of all our products and offerings. You are proactive and excel at driving sales to enable the business to achieve the next level of growth.

We are looking for someone that has a proven commitment to the cannabis industry by keeping up to date with industry trends and laws. This position will work collaboratively with company leadership, industry partners, sales representatives, operations, and marketing to accelerate revenue growth.

What You Will Be Doing

Account and Relationship Management

  • Develop a strategic and comprehensive business sales plan for the NorCal territory and manage all sales activities.
  • Help your team build strong partnerships with Mothership Agency accounts, fostering growth and long-term relationships.
  • Manage your team’s account relationships, evaluating needs with a focus on growing these existing accounts and upselling.
  • Build and protect the quality of Mothership Agency’s products, sharing extensive product knowledge with your accounts and ensuring products meet the established standards from distribution to the customer.

New Business Development

  • Work with our other sales leaders to devise and implement innovative strategies to attract and engage new accounts within your region.
  • Maintain a pulse on trends across the ever-changing cannabis landscape, evaluate competitor activities, economic indicators, and overall market trends.
  • Create a Go-To-Market plan for product launches
  • Develop leads into opportunities by nurturing relationships, understanding client problems, involving the correct decision-makers, and helping clients understand the Mothership Agency brand offering

Building Business Success

  • Hold regularly scheduled reviews with the sales team to discuss account reports, new opportunities, customer issues, competition, industry updates, new product information
  • Meet established key performance indicators (KPI‘s) for assigned region and track metrics on sales, pricing, accounts and merchandising for your team
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Production, Operations and other key areas to develop lead sources, expand the customer base, and ensure that product availability meets customer demand.
  • Lead, motivate and mentor your territory sales members to drive company goals

We are a start-up, rolling up our sleeves to build something bigger than ourselves. This means that other duties may arise, and we support one another in accomplishing what’s needed.

The Company

Mothership Agency (Formerly Ember Valley) is a leading cannabis product company in California. We provide branded products throughout the state across multiple product formats – jarred flower, pre-rolls, and extracts. Our ethos is and always will be “craft cannabis at scale.” We launched our brand in April 2019 and in that short time, we have consistently been ranked a top 10 brand in our product categories. We target the connoisseur market – our products are all premium priced. We are a product first company – for Mothership Agency, quality is everything.

We currently operate two indoor cultivation facilities that represent over 110,000 square feet. Additionally, we are constructing a purpose-built 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility, where we will centralize processing, packaging, distribution, and manufacturing.

Who You Are

Requirements

  • Strong negotiation skills and a large book of business
  • A passion for the cannabis industry and delivering value to the customer
  • Ability to work seamlessly with multiple internal and external partners
  • Born leader with a passion for creating and managing a successful high-performing sales team
  • Minimum 7 years experience with at least 3 years experience in a management position.
  • Experience in liquor and beverage, consumer products, or cannabis is a huge plus.
  • Strong use of CRM and Microsoft office.
  • Organized and prioritize your work to meet deadlines, adapting to unexpected priorities.
  • Excellent communication, time management and people skills
  • Able to excel in an unstructured, start-up environment, and bring an element of precision and organization.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
