What we need
We need an experienced and effective Director in West Hills, CA to lead a team of scientists that design, develop, execute and implement technology research projects. This position is part of Transplant Diagnostics Division R&D management team and provides effective leadership practices to apply sophisticated scientific principles and concepts for potential products and inventions. He/She will be an active contributor to bring new products to market through all phases of the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to an organization of scientists responsible for new product development with the intent of commercialization and distribution.
- Run multiple projects simultaneously maximizing your extensive knowledge of state of-the-art principles and theories to plan and execute basic and applied research.
- Build individual and team performance through effective people management practices.
- Engage with team on scalable approaches on a variety of projects and experiments, with the ability to define development project objectives and priorities.
- Use project management and formal continuous process improvement techniques to reach outcomes.
- Act as a key contributor to interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
- Empower, establish trust, and influence others within the team and broader organization.
- Lead and participate in the development of patent applications.
What we look for
History of performance that highlights a successful track record of significant achievements and launch of commercially viable products.
Ph.D. in applicable field along with at least 10 additional years of research and product development experience or Bachelors degree with equivalent experience.
Successfully managed, motivated, and developed scientific teams and projects.
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
Achieve strong levels of GMP/ISO compliance using our quality systems.
Collaborates with others on the direction of basic research and development relevant to long-term objectives and concerns.
Develops strategies to ensure effective achievement of scientific objectives.
What you bring
Broad and deep experience in Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Genomics, including molecular technologies such as DNA sequencing, NGS, and quantitative PCR.
Deep knowledge of NGS, PCR, qPCR, fluorescent dye chemistry, nucleotide chemistry, polymerases, and related instruments and software.
Self-starter who can lead, motivate and develop subordinates and operate effectively in an evolving environment.
Ability to communicate optimally and comfortably with all organizational levels.
High performance mindset and the effective utilization of people, processes, and technology.
Nice to have
Experience with statistical methods is highly desirable
Background in HLA is a plus
