Director, Program Management

Position Summary If you’ve ever wanted to “MC the big show”, this is the opportunity of a lifetime This position is responsible for setting the strategic direction for project and program management across the Security Product Group and directs Program, Project and Release planning and operation activities across our service offerings.

You will work with a team of expert Program and Release Managers to handle project chartering, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing of projects related to F5 product releases and internal projects within Product Development.

The ideal position for a proven leader who is looking to work across the entire organization and provide the structure to empower the leader in Application Delivery Networking.

Focus areas are setting strategy and direction for Product Development PMO, including researching, defining and documenting processes and practices.

Setting strategy and direction for PD product release events, coordinating with Marketing, Sales Ops, and Manufacturing.

Coordinating and planning of PD Training and Education programs.

Primary Responsibilities Duties include maintaining a program roadmap, approving key milestones, mentoring managers, preparing and conducting regular operational reviews, and leading all aspects of continuous improvement.

Communicate product roadmaps and priorities to staff, senior management, and other product teams.

Work closely with the Sales teams to highlight the successes of programs under management through establishing and maintaining dashboards and continue to build excitement and momentum with the field as we expand and innovate.

Evaluates and reviews new technologies that support great product engineering.

Employee management including but not limited to sourcing, interviewing and hiring candidates for open positions, onboarding, establishing goals, assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving mentorship to staff, conducting performance evaluations, approving paid time-off (PTO), developing performance improvement plans, and taking disciplinary action.

Approves changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect Product Development worldwide.

Introduce consistent PM tools for Program Management and introduce key metrics for detailed monitoring of progress in all projects.

Budget responsibilities include travel, approval of time off, office equipment and applications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Deep understanding of project lifecycle, product lifecycle, software development lifecycle, hardware development lifecycle.

Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies Experience in project and portfolio management tools such as MS Project, Atlassian Jira, and Confluence Ability to develop a team toward excellence.

Track record in mentoring and developing direct reports.

Ability to lead up, down, horizontal, and diagonal.

Demonstrated ability to deliver sustainable improved program performance (ex: cycle time).

Results driven with a positive can do attitude.

Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.

Familiarity with appliance and SW based product deliveries, with emphasis on networking and security.

Understand training programs and curriculum development Willingness and ability to adapt to new processes, ideas, and concepts.

Demonstrated excellence in all written communications.

Qualifications B.S.

Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree 8 years experience in managing project delivery.

5 years development management experience, including leading multiple teams Requires an in-depth knowledge of security technologies including DDoS, WAF, and anti-automation technologies along with general application and networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSL/TLS, Internet traffic routing, web-application security concepts and experience with common customer network topologies and environments.
