ROLE OVERVIEW

InStride is looking for an experienced Director, Pricing and Packaging to build and implement our pricing and packaging strategy to accelerate and optimize growth and unit economics.

This role will lead all aspects of pricing at InStride including management of our price list, pricing strategy and execution, pricing research and structuring, pricing support for new sales and partnership opportunities, pricing discount approvals, and pricing performance monitoring and adjustments (as the need arises) to ensure that the company achieves its sales and financial targets. 

We are looking for a dynamic leader who can identify pricing and packaging needs, objectively research and analyze issues, present recommendations in a way that elicits support and agreement from team members, and effectively implement to achieve favorable pricing results and outcomes.

Simply said, this person will have a highly developed curiosity to thoroughly analyze issues and to come forward with clear and simple recommendations for moving forward.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the official InStride price list
  • Perform primary and secondary research (i.e.

    conjoint surveys, customer interviews, competitive analysis, etc.)

  • Find creative ways to strategically package and price InStride’s product offerings to increase new sales, upsells, and mix shift
  • Ensure that each new product offering is accurately reviewed, packaged, priced, and approved
  • Partner with stakeholders inside and outside of the organization to gather pricing inputs, monitor market and competitive trends, and adapt as required to optimize pricing and (or) packaging
  • Own the Deal Desk function at InStride
  • Run and facilitate the day to day financial review, analysis, and approval process for large or non-standard customer opportunities
  • Partner with and become a trusted advisor to the sales team on pricing, packaging, and the commercial terms for non-standard transactions
  • Develop and refine an internal discounting and other special deal term approval process that supports a high-velocity sales motion
  • Build and lead pricing promotions and other pricing incentives as required to achieve revenue and unit economics goals
  • Perform ad hoc research, analysis, and reporting 

Ideal Profile

  • 7+ years of experience in pricing & packaging, management consulting, or strategic finance
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a similar field, with a MBA being a plus
  • Experience in B2B software or education technology is a plus
  • Proven experience in navigating through sophisticated scenarios, monetization frameworks, and financial models
  • A track record of collaborating and leading a strategic or operationally sophisticated project working with cross-functional teams at all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to distill complex issues into simple, structured frameworks that can be clearly communicated to key leaders and partners inside and outside of the company
  • Proven knowledge and experience with pricing processes, systems, and controls
  • Consistent track record of achievement and delivering impactful results
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability
