As the Director of Operations for the non-clinical areas of our Department of Surgery, you will be responsible for providing executive level leadership and strategic guidance leveraging internal and external resources. Qualified applicants will have extensive experience in planning, leading, and executing internal and external workflows, ensuring an effective exchange of information and deliverables across the department. 

As our Director of Operations, you will lead conversations to align cross functional teams, identify technology needs to optimize collaboration and track the impact on initiatives and drive consistency of all operational strategies and processes. This will involve collaborating closely with the Executive Chief Administrative Officer and department Chief Financial Officer on developing business planning models to integrate shared services enabling stability in financial planning and analysis, working within proscribed budgets.  We seek an experienced team-oriented leader with strong communication and project management skills who will collaborate with colleagues across a complex academic enterprise. 

Qualifications

We’re seeking an exceptionally-skilled organizational leader with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or organizational development
  • Five or more years of experience in an academic medical organization
  • Experience leading the delivery of large, complex, enterprise-level projects, solutions, or initiatives
  • Experience with process design and value-stream mapping
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all organizational levels
  • Ability to create a shared direction within a diverse, cross-functional project team with conflicting goals/constraints
  • PMP or Six Sigma (e.g., Green, Lean, Black Belt) expertise preferred
  • Proficiency with Lean/Agile tools or project management applications (e.g., Visio, JIRA/Confluence, Kanban, etc.) highly desirable
