The AMDA Los Angeles Performing Arts Library is seeking a Director of Library Services, Los Angeles. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Libraries, the Library Director will be responsible for maintaining the library’s operations including supervision of all professional staff members and supporting the Library’s physical and digital infrastructure. AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers various pathways for students to receive unparalleled performing arts education taught by world-class industry professionals, including Professional Conservatory Certificates as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Occupational Studies, Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts). This is a permanent, non-tenure track, staff position, with the majority of duties being performed on site. Some night and weekend hours may be required. Primary Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Library Services, the Director of Library Services, Los Angeles will oversee the AMDA LA Library daily operations, supervise professional staff, and work closely with other members of the Library team to create shared policies and procedures, focusing on the needs of the collective AMDA community. The Director of Library Services works independently and collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:

Provide reference and research consultations Create LibGuides and tutorials to support online reference and instruction Visit various classes in-person and virtually to provide library instruction sessions Implement collection development strategies with other members of the Library team Catalog new materials including music, books, audiovisual materials, and e-resources Process and send materials to the bindery for repair; complete in-house repairs as needed Maintain the Library’s website in collaboration with the Library team Create and coordinate student and faculty programming and outreach events Engage with the AMDA community through the Library’s social media platforms Participation in continual professional development Activity within professional associations Required Skills & Expertise:

Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field A degree in the performing arts or extensive knowledge in the areas of AMDA’s degree programs, is necessary Supervisory experience Work experience in academia or higher education; knowledge from public libraries or special libraries will also be considered Flexibility and confidence with new technologies and adapting instruction models in response to a hybrid educational environment Demonstrate effective, accurate and clear communication with strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Asking questions as needed for clarification of projects/tasks/duties/assignments is highly encouraged Ability to collaborate with others and interact with different members of the AMDA community who have a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences Successful candidates will have a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of our students, including disabilities that may affect students’ learning styles. Preferred Qualities:

A minimum of 2 years in library administration or supervisory role Experience with Springshare (LibGuides) Previous use of integrated library systems such as Sierra, OCLC, or TLC Familiarity of learning management systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard Experience with cataloging performing arts materials Collection development experience Experience with social media platforms Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace Diversity and Qualifications: AMDA is fully committed to diversity, inclusivity, and equity throughout the teaching and learning process.
