$165,373.56 – $257,189.64 Annually

ABOUT THE COURT

Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles (Court) is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 40 facilities within the Court’s 12 judicial districts and are supported by more than 4,600 full-time Court employees. The Court has an annual budget of approximately $1 billion. The Court plays a significant role in the rich diversity of Los Angeles County as it serves and provides access to justice to more than 10 million residents across 4,000 square miles in 88 cities.
ABOUT THE POSITION

The Director of Learning & Development (L&D) will oversee the Court’s expanding employee learning and development team and work closely with Court leaders to ensure that L&D programs are aligned with the Court’s transformation goals. The Director, along with the L&D team, is responsible for building a culture of continuous learning, establishing a vision for L&D, and developing a strategy to elevate learning and development within the organization. The Director will evolve current employee learning, training, and development programs, create new programs, and ensure departmental learning and development programs are properly supported.

TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES
This role has the flexibility to work remotely with the understanding that there will be in-person meetings, trainings, or other in-person activities. The individual selected must reside in California and be available to report to the Court HR offices as needed and within 2 hours in emergency circumstances.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify, you must meet the following upon the final filing date of this bulletin:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university** with a major in human resources, business administration, public administration or a closely related field -AND- seven (7) years of progressively responsible, diverse professional human resources experience, three (3) years of which must have been in a leadership capacity* overseeing a team of departmental managers responsible for employee training and development, management development, organization development, talent management or other equivalent experience in the field of learning and development.

  • Leadership capacity is defined as having the responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing, and administering the work of a functional program or section through subordinate supervisory staff.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following desirable qualifications:

  • Experience working in a transforming culture environment.
  • 7+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Organization Development, Leadership Development and/or Human Resources related experience.
  • 3 + years leading teams of Talent Management, L&D, and HR experts. Experience leading managers of managers.
  • Experience scaling L&D functions and creating a learning culture.
  • A strategic partner: ability to understand the business strategy and connect it to a learning and development strategy.
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically, with the ability to operationalize strategies and effectively execute them.
  • Problem-solving skills with strategic knowledge about learning systems and talent tools required.
  • Experience and ability to build, scale and lead a team of direct reports and create a positive team working environment.
  • Ability to effectively drive change management and communication strategies to various audiences for new programs and initiatives at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and progress forward with a bias for action.
  • Excellent presentation skills. Ability to synthesize information and present to audiences at all levels.
