Job Description

Lehigh Technical & Professional Service is a leading staffing agency dating back to the 1950’s.  We specialize in temporary and direct placement positions in the fields of:  IT, Engineering, Manufacturing, Accounting and Administrative.  We are currently partnering with a world-wide leader in the defense / aerospace industry in their pursuit to hire a Director of IT. 

Our client is seeking an IT Director to report to the Global IT Director to lead national service of a multi-site manufacturing business including technology project implementations, applications development and support in a fast-paced global company.  The successful candidate will oversee direct reports, contractors and 3rd party partners and will be responsible to deliver world class technology and services that meets their business needs.  As a team leader, the IT Director will have excellent communication skills both oral and written and possess the ability to motivate, mentor and develop employees.  

They will also possess strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with cross-functional business & international partners and end users.

Must have strong and proven leadership skills and current information technology experience.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage Technical Implementations & Application/Infrastructure Support Team(s) nationally (ServiceDesk, End User Computing support, system admin and application development) in delivering service and projects with the constant focus on maximizing value to the organization
  • Ability to drive a Continuous Improvement culture and focus
  • Responsible for the success of software implementations and ongoing support;
  • Manage and lead a team of technical infrastructure/service delivery and software implementation & support specialists (full-time and contractors) in accordance with Agile, ITIL and TOGAF methodology.
  • Proven IT Project Management experience in accordance with PMP/Prince2
  • Provide support, direction and mentorship in tech support and service delivery
  • Provide regular two-way communication between the internal customer and team to provide strong team representation and set proper customer expectations
  • Ensure that customer issues are addressed in an efficient and timely manner, and engaging or informing appropriate Organization Management, as required
  • Manage and facilitate meetings to drive decisions and ensure teams are improving performance, service, and product quality
  • Ensure 100% compliance with ITAR, NIST 800 – and DFARs where appropriate
  • Acts as central point of contact for Cyber Security Major Incidents nationally
  • Defines end user technology requirements by working with business sponsors and key users ensuring requirements deliver a value creation business outcome.
  • Use those requirements to draft detailed technical specifications ranging from simple, approved changes to complex process map specifications for review and approval
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive collaborative relationship across Global IT and with all business departments
  • IT Lead on all ERP related projects working with various departments to meet business needs
  • Analyze requests quickly to determine integration / interfaces with other modules/systems to assess impact and quickly determine best approach. Provide realistic timelines based on current workload.
  • Create presentations and present to leadership
  • Cross-functional business partner
  • Build relationships and earn trust with cross-functional business partners and customers
  • Serve as the primary product and applications contact for vendors, business partners and customers
  • Responsible for supporting the customer’s needs
  • Research, implement and maintain best practices in help desk and IT support
  • Track and report on outages to the customer and Organization Management

Enterprise Applications

  • Partner with the business to identify opportunity for enhancements using technology
  • Assist in identifying software vendors in the direct marketplace and other industries
  • Support Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Conduct product technical evaluations and participate in product demos
  • Conduct buy vs build analysis
  • Design technical solutions including integrations
  • Manage and present product and support scorecards
  • Become an applications and product subject matter expert
  • Manage key vendor relationships, product development, invoicing, and escalations
  • Partner with the business to identify and prioritize product enhancements, third party integrations and upgrades

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven IT solutions delivery experience (min 7 years) with a proven progression through IT Management
  • Experience in applications development and/or packaged software implementation (ERP, MES, CRM, PLM etc.)
  • Experience of managing Global IT Partners in delivering critical services and significant project delivery
  • Experience managing a critical ERP system, medium to large enterprise size
  • Experience of managing an IT Infrastructure made up of Windows OS 2012 and above, Citrix environment, SDWAN, subject to regulatory compliance and cyber security constraints
  • Experience of ITIL v3, PMP, TOGAF, Prince2, Agile
  • Experience of working in an environment subject to mergers, acquisitions and divestitures
  • Extensive business experience
  • Experience of Digital Transformation and innovation within Manufacturing
  • Experience of Operational Technologies and IoT
  • Experience implementing API integrations
  • Experience with Big Data/Data Warehouse technologies and reporting tools
  • Experience in delivering customer-focused solutions based on customer needs
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
  • Proven ability to handle conflict resolution – across internal Organization and Customer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skill (English)
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence effectively at all levels of the organization
