Director of FP&A (Remote)

We recently raised a $21M Series B round and are on an exciting trajectory as a company.

We’re looking for a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis who can be our first team member to build out the FP&A team while also selecting and implementing tools for the team, figure out processes, and paint the picture for FP&As role at Fleetio.

This role will begin with you as the sole/founding member of the FP&A team but will evolve to where you have FP&A analysts reporting to you.

What you’ll be doing You will first get acquainted with the business of Fleetio, ranging from who is on what team to the flows of information to the financial details then youll get down to business: Build relationships with different teams across Fleetio.

Dig in deep into the financial and non-financial data that underlies our business model.

Work with operational leaders throughout Fleetio and our investors to figure out the financial reporting needs for each and how to deliver those reports.

Explore Fleetios business with ad hoc analysis to uncover actionable insights.

Elevate our financial reporting from manually-generated reports in Excel and Google Sheets to actionable insights available to the business stakeholders who need the information.

Improve our investor reporting so that it is quicker to produce, easier to generate, and highlights key things for investors to know.

Work with our Data Analytics team to determine the best way to use our data warehouse (Snowflake).

Improve/replace Fleetios main forecast model and auxiliary models with something more automated and robust.

Figure out what the multi-year path for the FP&A group should be, including goals, team structure, philosophy, and systems to use.

Learn and understand the business of Fleetio.

Requirements Expert fluency in financial modeling (Excel, Google Sheets, and at least true one system).

Extensive experience at a software company on the financial side.

Deep business understanding at different layers: e.g., company P&L, cash use trends, and GTM modeling.

You dont need a CPA, but you must be able to understand interactions between financial statement lines what they indicate about our actual business operations.

The Corporate Ops team consists of several functions: Finance: currently just our CFO.

FP&A will expand Finances capabilities to help the rest of the company with the business of Fleetio.

Accounting: Controller 2 accountants.

We are planning to hire a specialized Payroll & Benefits Specialist to handle the recurring administration.

People Ops: Recruiting, talent development, and HR.

We are currently searching for a VP of People Ops to take over the team.

This person will report directly to our CEO resulting in the People Ops team standing separate from Finance & Accounting.

Legal: We use outsourced legal experts to help us with customer contracting questions, fundraising transactions, partnership negotiations, intellectual property protections, and employment law questions.

Fleetios CFO and Controller typically act as points of contact for our outsourced lawyers.

The Corporate Ops team is located in several geographic locations: Birmingham, Tampa, and New Orleans.

The Birmingham group periodically works out of the HQ building when the flow is right.

In a nutshell, we want the best talent located wherever (within the US).

We can usually catch each other for quick Slack pings or Zoom calls from roughly the core hours of 9 am to 3 pm Central.

We rely heavily on asynchronous communication through Asana, our company-wide project management system.

As the USA gets into a post-COVID pandemic state, wed like to periodically have in-person team events as our collective schedules allow.

We value in-person connections when it works for all involved.

From a systems standpoint, we use a lot of them.

We have found tools that are the best for what they do: Asana, Slack, Xero, SaaSOptics, Ramp, Bamboo, Carta, dozens more a mixture of Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Excel.

We rely on the saying: a great solution today can become a problem tomorrow.

We are constantly thinking about if processes or systems will scale.

If we can get a few years from a system before we need to replace it, then well implement it.

We rely heavily on automated integrations between our systems so we can keep manual work down.

Considered a plus Have been a part of a high-growth software company during its $10M to $100M ARR curve.

Have experience interacting with institutional investors.

Have designed and implemented incentive plans, including both sales and non-sales incentives.

Have implemented effective ways to track & report costs by product, customer segment, or other commonly used cohorts.
