Director of Development

The University of Southern California Gayle Garner Roski School of Art and Design invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Development.
The selected candidate will help grow and sustain philanthropic support for the school’s students, faculty, and programs.
The Director of Development will work directly with the Dean and assist in the design, implementation, and creation of campaigns to advance the mission of the art and design program.
The ideal candidate will have a strong record of fundraising success both as a leader and individually.

The candidate will possess outstanding communication skills, be self-motivated and suited to work with donors, artist, designers and creative professionals both locally, nationally, and internationally.
First organized in 1883, the USC Gayle Garner Roski School of Art and Design is the oldest art school in Southern California with a noteworthy history, illustrious alumni, internationally renowned faculty, and bright, talented students.
The school is a unique, supportive environment for creativity, experimentation, and collaboration in visual arts and design.
USC Roski features an open approach to art that allows for both the integration and overlap of a number of artistic fields, as well as opportunities for cross-discipline research and collaboration at the 22 professional schools at USC, one of the world’s leading research institutions.

Located in the heart of Los Angeles, home to a vital local art and design community and an international gallery and museum scene, at USC Roski, creativity is unleashed, and students thrive.
The school offers courses in all media—painting, drawing, photography, design, sculpture, video, digital media, ceramics, performance, printmaking — and students are encouraged throughout their education to explore, combine, mix, match and move freely among them.
Reporting to and working closely with the Dean, the Director of Development will lead all aspects of development and donor relations for USC Roski.
Responsibilities:
Creating and implement a fundraising plan and strategic goals to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors to grow individual, annual, corporate, and foundation giving. Strengthen programs that engage individuals as advocates, partners, volunteers, donors Serve as primary staff liaison to the USC Roski Board of Councilors by scheduling quarterly in-person meetings with faculty presentations.
Maintain a focus on pipeline development by continuously discovering and qualifying potential donors that could lead to further engagement and philanthropic potential.
Increase base of support for major donors through outreach and building relationships through virtual meetings, in-person meetings, telephone contact and correspondence.
Obtain contributions form new donors and renews/increases support form prior donors Steward donors with updates and impact reports Work collaboratively with colleagues in University Advancement including regional offices, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, parent program, and annual giving.
Prepare development reports assessing progress toward goals.
Analyze information trends and patterns, evaluate strategies and make recommendations for further advancement goals.
The ideal candidate for the above position will have a minimum of seven years of experience fundraising in an arts organization or with a major campaign environment.
This individual will have a strong track record of securing and closing philanthropic investments of $1 million and more and possess documented success building integrated donor, corporate, and foundation relations.
Experience leading advancement for a university unit and knowledge of Salesforce is preferred.
