Director, Engineering

FOX Sports is searching for a Director of Engineering Remote Operations to join our team in Los Angeles.

In this position, you will work with the award-winning all-star engineering team for FOX Sports and an engineering group made up of some of the brightest minds in broadcasting.

Your responsibilities include managing and creating technology both behind the scenes and in front of the camera and being a part of the cutting-edge methods of producing sports programming from everything from a four camera college basketball games to the Super Bowl and everything in between.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for scheduling of Remote Kits, Control Rooms and Remote Workspaces with coordination between Sport Operations Managers
Accountable for remote event coordination between Remote Operations and the Sports Transmission Operations, Studio Operations, Sports PICO & FNCC Engineering, Sports Crewing and Corp IT when utilizing FOX Network Center or FOX Remote Systems resources
Responsible for Crew Management and Support while at FOX PICO
Liaise with Technical & Operations Managers during the event to support their needs in conjunction with the planned usage of Remote Kits, Control Rooms and Remote Workspaces
Manage shipping of equipment once released from FOX Sports Remote Operations Field Shop(s)
Oversee rental of equipment for overflow or additional requirements
Collaborate with Engineering management to determine event needs, equipment assignments and rental equipment necessary
Partner with Sports Engineering Management and Field Shop Manager to replace, repair and re-integrate equipment
Team up with Field Shop Managers to distribute equipment and equipment for testing and/or repair
Manage employees supporting Remote Integration Operations
Budgeting of costs related to Field Integration Operations
Manage operational documentation for Field Operations teams of their integrated events
Request Support Engineers and Technicians per event needs
Coordination of scheduling databases for HRP and Remote Workspace events for FS Field Operations
Event Support before, during and after live events as assigned – including engineering/operations, workspace assignments and time sheets, catering and weekly, daily and event schedules
Setup and support of equipment shipping and tracking
Create and distribute operational documentation for Field Operations teams for their events
Rental equipment sourcing, ordering, shipment, tracking and billing

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

15+ years professional experience required in network level environment (network, facilities company, etc) in engineering
5+ years of management experience
Demonstrated experience in working with:
live remote workflows, remote command and control workflows
building and packaging hardware and software solutions for live broadcast
bonded IP solutions
drawing and maintaining engineering diagrams and documentation
working in large show environments, such as Super Bowls, World Series, or other Championship type of events
IP and network environment management
Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation, and documentation skills
Proficiency with Google Suite applications, and knowledge of both Mac and PC operating systems

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER

Education in Computer Science, Broadcasting, Engineering, or a related communications field
Experience with applications like SmartSheet, Cheqroom, etc.
