Content Marketing Manager

Tapas is the “YouTube for storytellers” — an open-publishing platform and home to a community of more than 58,000 creators. We’ve published over 89,000 stories to date. We specialize in publishing original stories in the form of serialized webcomics and novels. Tapas has 3.3 million monthly unique readers, who collectively spend more than 113 million minutes per month on Tapas. Stories on Tapas have been read over 7.7 billion times to date. About 70% of our audience is female millennials, primarily located in the US, and the Tapas app is one of the top-grossing comics apps on iOS and Android.

Beyond being a premier open publishing platform, we also co-produce original IP with our top creators through Studio Tapas. We then shop these properties alongside our creators to adapt them into the next hit TV series, movies, games, physical books, and more.

Our goal is to help support independent creators by providing easy to use publishing tools, sustainable forms of revenue, and connecting them with readers from all over the world. Not only are we a premier open publishing platform but we also produce our own line of Tapas Original stories.

We’re seeking to hire a Content Marketing Manager for our Los Angeles office, who will be leading and expanding our creator community brand Tapastry and will create engaging content for social channels on and off the Tapas platform.

What you’ll do:

  • Map out a content strategy for our creator community brand (Tapastry) that supports and extends marketing initiatives of our main brand (Tapas), determine which methods work for the brand and why. Continuous evolution of the strategy is a must.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to create engaging content our community of creators is excited about.
  • Manage social media channels including email newsletter distribution. 
  • Have a strong understanding of best practices of our main social media channels and how to deliver, track and judge results.
  • Establish and help maintain a content marketing calendar.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to build a library of training materials for our audience.
  • Manage our Creator Happiness team, creator community, and events.
  • Make public announcements to our community of creators and establish relationships to industry professionals.
  • Represent the creator community and Tapas in public forums

What we’re looking for:

  • 4-6 years of experience in Content Marketing
  • Experience creating content for web and the growing social audience, including editorial and video content
  • Community Management experience is a plus
  • Experience hiring, training, and managing a team
  • Be driven, goal oriented and a self-starter
  • Develop standards, systems and best practices (both human and technological) for content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval and content repurposing, including the real- time implementation of content strategies
  • Have a deep appreciation and respect for artists, writers and online content creators.
  • Experience with online publishing, webcomics or webnovels is a plus
