Your Role:
As a Business Development Manager (Americas Region) you will be responsible for helping position Arup to win work with preferred clients and secure desired projects in the local market. You will achieve this by working closely with local leadership, client relationship managers and market sector teams. In addition, you will drive the client relationship management and business development activities undertaken in your home and satellite offices. The position requires close collaboration with regional bid teams and a deep understanding of the local market landscape in the built environment.
In this role, you will exercise independent judgment to create and maintain client relationships that will develop business opportunities consistent with Arups strategic initiatives while collaborating with office and market leaders and other marketing and business development personnel. In close collaboration with office and market leadership, you will help negotiate and develop teaming strategies, guide the pre-positioning for and serve in an advisory role during the preparation of marketing documents and participate in interview preparation, as needed. In this role, you will continually research and update specific market analysis, and proactively identify new opportunities aligned with Arups strategic priorities.
The ideal candidate will represent the firm in maintaining relationships and building new contacts that align with the firms targeted market sectors, assist clients in planning events and project activities, and have the ability to think strategically.
Key Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager works closely with leadership teams with a specific focus on strategic clients, markets and major pursuits. Responsibilities include:

Supports client relationship managers and teams to embed an effective approach to developing and growing relationships with priority clients.

Works with team and local office leadership to assist in the development and delivery of strategic market business plans.

Supports strategic pursuits and bids through capture plan support and pre-positioning activities for major pursuits and long-term opportunities.

Demonstrates organizational competency in the effective use of CRM in support of client relationship management, opportunity and pipeline management to support data integrity.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of 7 years of AEC industry experience, as well as knowledge of and interest in the built environment and related industry organizations.

Experience in a similar B2B, B2G Business Development / Strategic Account Management and/or Account Based Marketing role within a professional services environment with complex and long sales cycle context.

Experience in Capture Planning.

Ability to effectively facilitate client account planning with senior stakeholders providing appropriate constructive challenge, clear outcomes, and commitment to action.

Experience conducting client and market research to identify opportunities and inform client planning and related activities.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops.

Industry-related certification recommended.

Bachelors degree required.

Established business relationships within the AEC Industry and Business Associations
