Beacon Hill Technologies: Senior Manager – Production (Unscripted)

One of our clients in Los Angeles area is looking for a Senior Manager Production (unscripted) with the following skills and experience MUST HAVES Looking for a candidate with a Production Management background Heavy StudioNetwork Experience is required Experience with Budgeting is a MUST.

They will be working with multi-million budgets so that’s crucial.

The Senior Manager, Production reports to the Director, Production and provides management, leadership and oversight across a robust slate of unscripted, alternative and 3rd Party productions with a wide range of formats, schedules, locations, budgets and creative partners.

This role will act as a ” Show facing” support executive and will directly oversee numerous projects per year.

Responsible for all aspects of physical production management and delivery of compelling programming that meets creative and fiscal expectations by facilitating communication, thinking strategically, leveraging technology, seeking new talent and providing support to business partners while maximizing budgetary and schedule parameters.

This position will need to have a curious mind and not be afraid to ask questions.

The Senior Manager will also need to have a wide range of unscripted production experience, managing the production process from inception to delivery on multiple formats, and experience working with a variety of respected auspices in the creative and production community.

Key Responsibilities Production Responsible for managing an ongoing slate of unscripted originals from development through production, post-production and delivery that are small to medium in scope, budget and size.

Provide clear oversight and guidance to maintain precedents and achieve creative objectives keeping in mind efficiency and innovation Review and vet 3rd party production companies, Project Hires and Non-Employee temps, and key crew as necessary.

Collaborate with Production Lead, BA, Legal, Finance and Creative teams to provide guidance on key deal points with Above-the-Line, vendors, and key talent.

Work with internal creative teams and producers to understand creative storytelling priorities, key deadlines and sensitive delivery timelines.

Review and adjust schedules and budgets in conjunction with creative and 3rd party production company to optimize for production value and creative storytelling while also managing costs through strategic ideation, communication and collaboration.

Anticipate and communicate potential issues prior to commencement of production.

Review production related documents and cost reports with Leader to suggest possible fiscal issues, analyzing and summarizing fiscal performance.

Work regularly with internal Labor team to make informed and strategic decisions with regard to union configuration for each project andor make recommendations to the 3rd Party.

Introduce 3rd party production company to internal Travel Department when required by show.

Work regularly with Security, Legal, Insurance, Safety, Travel to understand corporate COVID requirements and how they apply to 3rd party production companies, identifying and discussing risk as necessary.

Work closely with 3rd party production company to understand and convey their COVID production policy, or suggest modifications specific to show format, in order to ensure a safe work environment on set.

Partner closely with Post-Production team to ensure clear communication from start to delivery of project.

Upon wrap of shows, conduct final audit of assets, deliverables, and cost reports in conjunction with production finance prior to final payment.

Team learning and contribution to improving culture Because we manage many formats, it is necessary that the Senior Manager, Production ask questions and share specific learnings with the rest of the team so that there is an acceleration of experience and knowledge across the entire team.

Build and maintain strong internal relationships with DBT counterparts, including but not limited to Creative, BA, Legal Affairs, Production Finance, Marketing, Post, Ops, Mastering, etc.

Communicate regularly with senior team on timely issues, elevating possible problems that may need timely activationcommunication.

Build and maintain relationships with production counterparts producing similar formats.

This can include NatGeo, Hulu, ABC News, Marvel, etc.

Pursue areas of knowledge that can help the team as a whole improve.

Examples of this are technology (hardware and software), relevant books about media and leadership, podcasts about immerging media companies, etc.

Corporate Responsibility Focus on the Diversity Inclusion initiative and work closely with producers to help ensure projects have expected representation, and work to grow the network of producers, companies, vendors and other talent in an effort to increase representation across productions.

Champion other Company initiatives, such as the Green effort to lessen the environmental impact made by our productions.

Key Skills 7+ years’ experience as a Production Manager, Line Producer or Production Executive in one or more of the following areas o Television, New Media, or Digital Production company o Network, Cable, or Digital Network o Production CompanyStudio Experience in diverse formats Live Event, Digital Content, Documentary, Variety, Reality, Music Special andor Competition.

Post-production management, Graphics, and SVOD project delivery.

Understanding guildunion agreements.

Working knowledge of minor labor laws and IP licensing.

Extensive production contacts.

Self-starter, takes initiative, works independently.

Direct and purposeful in all verbal and non-verbal communication.

Highly organized and detail-oriented, yet flexible and ready to adapt to change Approaches problems or roadblocks as opportunities for learning and creative thinking Strong listening skills.

Team player, able to collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external partners.

In-depth, working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Movie Magic Budgeting software, Google Suite.

Strong management, financial and negotiation skills Strong written and verbal presentation skills Ability to solicit diverse opinions, research and gather relevant information to guide decision making on the Company’s behalf.
