Position Summary Marqeta is looking for a highly motivated, high performing Associate Manager that is passionate about helping to build and scale Marqeta’s Enterprise customer base.

This expansive role is ideal for individuals seeking to be deeply immersed in all aspects of business development and sales with the overarching goals of (1) closing deals to grow Marqeta’s revenue and (2) expanding the addressable market for Marqeta’s products and services.

We’re looking for a self-motivated, all-around athlete who is hungry to learn about new businesses, technologies, and markets and possesses the innate business judgment and sales chops to vett opportunities and close deals.

Payments and card experience is a big plus but not a requirement to be successful in this role; just the ability and drive to get up the curve very quickly.

You will also need to understand the basics of how SaaS and platform technology companies work, and be able to communicate technical and product benefits to both sophisticated and unsophisticated buyers.

Primary Responsibilities The ideal candidate will be able to quickly learn from, adapt to, and execute on a diverse set of projects and tasks, including but not limited to: Supporting Enterprise account executives to close more deals.

Shadowing sales calls to learn the pitch, how we identify the right solutions for customer programs, and run a sales process.

Developing and optimizing customer-specific presentation content working in close conjunction with Marketing.

Following up on technical and operational questions related to our products and services as part of the customer solutioning process.

Modeling out customer-specific commercial terms working with our Deals Desk to optimize profitability while weighing competitive pressures and the longer term viability of the customer’s business.

Facilitating contract negotiations by coordinating with internal stakeholders on exception requests.

Working with Revenue leadership to define the go-to-market strategy.

Helping to prioritize our product and operational roadmap to target the largest serviceable addressable markets for Marqeta in North America Acting as project manager to remove blockers across Legal, Compliance, Operations and Product to enable us to open up new verticals/industries.

Building business cases to invest more heavily in high growth areas and new potential markets.

Helping to optimize efficiency in our pipeline and sales cycle management.

Working with Revenue Operations to ensure we are accurately, comprehensively and efficiently capturing the relevant data to drive decisions on performance.

Ideating to define the KPIs we should be using to measure success at every stage of our pipeline.

Going deep on our technology Getting up to speed on Marqeta’s technical capabilities, the unique features and customer benefits our platform offers and how to speak with confidence, knowledge and credibility about what we bring to our customers.

Responsibilities This role will provide an opportunity for successful individuals to become a full-fledged Account Executive over time with expanded responsibilities including Qualifying leads and prioritizing customer opportunities: Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming prospects by identifying their needs and requirements, responding to requests for information, and vetting them against our current and future product offering.

Running a Sales Process: Manage real customer opportunities through a sales process, from initial engagement to pricing discussions to final contract negotiations.

At any given time, you will be responsible for managing accounts and working the opportunities in various stages of that process in Salesforce.

Contracting: Work with our Legal team as required to shepherd both inbound and outbound opportunities through the contracting process, including negotiation and execution.

Supporting future product development: Conduct market research and analysis, and work cross-functionally with our product and operations team to help determine Marqeta’s product strategy, Requirements We’re looking for the following attributes.

2-4 years of experience in sales, partnerships and/or strategic business development roles; investment banking and strategic consulting backgrounds preferred but not required.

Interest and understanding of the payments ecosystem is a plus, with bonus points for knowing the issuing side.

Comfort with the unknown.

We’re building a world-class platform but have to manage the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders.

Our product roadmap is also constantly changing to reflect changing strategy and the competing needs of our customers.

Familiarity and ease with the fintech ecosystem, B2B technology applications and how technology platforms serve customer businesses Confidence in serving as the face of Marqeta for prospective customers and partners who may comprise C-suite executives and entrepreneurs.

Insatiable drive and initiative to take on new projects, work autonomously and leverage internal stakeholders to solve problems.
